I've personally always been against it. Factories in Drogheda were closed over the years, jobs ripped.out of the town to send them abroad. Yes, it's taken until now for many to wake up and realise it. That said, people were screamkng from the rooftops for years about outsourcing to poliylticians and nothing was done about it. And then we wonder why protest votes like Trump and Brexit are starting to happen. The normal voter has been ignored for decades and it's continuing to happen. Meanwhile the smokescreen Trump is x, y, z, covers over all the valid reasons he was voted in in the first place.
Point being, huge swathes of people have never been in favour of the decisions our big businesses, politicians and banks have been making.
If I'm to take Kev at his word, which unless shown otherwise, I will, he has improved the lot of ethnic minorities, he has a significant female portion on his staff. I like that he has the balls to call out the need for China to answer for covid, he's correct to want to bring US business home, he doesn't want to pay over the odds to NATO etc, compared to other countries. While that stuff would have negative impacts for other countries, he's surely supposed to have US interests at heart. He's a blowhard and certainly comes out with loads of nonsense but I can see why he has a lot of support. And keep in mind, I don't like him. The election alone will be the test of just how many regret voting for Trump. We'll see if anything comes of this latest Russia collusion investigation, but as it stands he's still in with a very good fighting chance, and largely for the reasons Pedrito has raised...plus middle Americans being turned off by what they see as a radicalized left, screaming fascist whenever they get a chance, and so on. A lot of middle America feel more represented by Trump than the current woke face of the Democratic party, and that's a fact. Doesn't mean they feel represented by him, just more so...which is a nuance you are sorely lacking in the context of a two-man race.

I have written some five star reviews for excellent products from china and twelve months later found most of the other reviews seem to be much lower to the point of some reviewers wishing they could leave zero stars. This book explains the phenomenon called "product fade". The samples and initial batch are as good as the prototype but after an extended production run cheaper materials or processes are employed without any notification of change. This is considered standard practise by many manufacturers in china, a penny saved is a penny earned etc. Do that a couple of million times on a long production run and the results are obvious, at least financially. Lead paint dries faster than the non-toxic varieties so why not use it on childrens toys as supplied to Mattel? Just because it is outlawed all over the world is not enough reason apparently when weighed against savings in costs.
And as for fakes; well what do you want for the money? If a phone charger catches fire..........well, they don't all catch fire. And fire blankets that catch fire? And smoke alarms that fail to detect smoke or fire? Who cares? They are export only.
Perhaps extreme examples, but the book will show a total lack of conscience or even concern about making inferior products and the maxim "never mind the quality; look at the price" is the only consideration.

Chris gets to the core of the issue with this. Trump signals to the right. Biden to the left. Do they really believe any of that hocus pocus mumbo jumbo, be it radical Christianity or SJW outrage? Do they fuck. But that's politics. Did Trump repeal abortion when he got in? No chance. But traditional Democrats crossed over in the last election out of sheer frustration with the status quo.
Now Biden and Co. need to convince those people that they're worth voting for, the same Biden who was the vice president of the administration that people wanted to change, and change radically. That said, plenty of Republicans won't be too enamoured with Trump this time round. Only problem for the democrats is they keep signalling towards BLM, rioters, defunding police and no moderate will be swayed by that.
We in Europe keep focussing on the drama, the headline issues, but when it comes to voting people everywhere vote for the basics..be it in Ireland, Spain, Australia, whatever. Economy, security, education, health etc. That's why Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil keep getting back in in Ireland and yet European elections can be totally unpredictable. Americans are voting for what happens on their street, their towns, in their city and state. Are there jobs? Do my kids have a school to go to? Foreign policy and all the other headline grabbers is a sideshow when it comes down to it.
