Michelle Obama stating she hates politics at a political convention has been the highlight of my day. This thread has been regretful and quite painful to read through.

She's not even a politician, she's just married to one.

Imagine if I saw a person having a heart attack on the train and decided to jump in.  It's ok,  my wife is a nurse! I pull my trowel out of my back pocket and hack his faulty heart out of his chest. I wonder would I be interviewed on Nationwide as a national hero  :o

She also praised Harvey Weinstein as a 'Wonderful Human Being and a good friend' during a speech in 2013.

Nice to see a footballer bringing more notice to the plight of the Uighurs and other ethnic minorities in China and indeed around the world...

I first heard of the Uighurs plight when I read Prisoner 13498. A fantastic book and I highly recommend it.

Another worth reading is Poorly Made In China...
Lets you know exactly how, by and large the Chinese manufacturers deal with their exports. Profit above everything else. Save a penny, take a life... no problem.

Essential For Importers

I have written some five star reviews for excellent products from china and twelve months later found most of the other reviews seem to be much lower to the point of some reviewers wishing they could leave zero stars. This book explains the phenomenon called "product fade". The samples and initial batch are as good as the prototype but after an extended production run cheaper materials or processes are employed without any notification of change. This is considered standard practise by many manufacturers in china, a penny saved is a penny earned etc. Do that a couple of million times on a long production run and the results are obvious, at least financially. Lead paint dries faster than the non-toxic varieties so why not use it on childrens toys as supplied to Mattel? Just because it is outlawed all over the world is not enough reason apparently when weighed against savings in costs.
And as for fakes; well what do you want for the money? If a phone charger catches fire..........well, they don't all catch fire. And fire blankets that catch fire? And smoke alarms that fail to detect smoke or fire? Who cares? They are export only.
Perhaps extreme examples, but the book will show a total lack of conscience or even concern about making inferior products and the maxim "never mind the quality; look at the price" is the only consideration
.

Chy-Nah....

The factory of the world..... Supplying the landfills of the world!

If only someone had taken a trowel to Nancy Reagan's stupid cunt heart back in the 80's.

Presumably at the point of saying that she had reason to believe it so a moot point.

BRING BACK JFK!!!

Ozil did it last year too, Arsenal distanced themselves from the comments after China started pulling their merchandise and said they "don't get involved with politics"

But they've no problem supporting the BLM protests...

The NBA backing China to the hilt was sickening also.

The non-negotiable kneeling and wearing BLM (a political movement) on shirts, lapels etc instead of something that everyone can get behind like 'No to racism' in sport across the board with no dissent permitted is fine though.

That BLM thing in sports really sits badly with me. I am averse to things being rammed down my throat

[/quote]Doesn't mean they feel represented by him, just more so...

Chris gets to the core of the issue with this. Trump signals to the right. Biden to the left. Do they really believe any of that hocus pocus mumbo jumbo, be it radical Christianity or SJW outrage? Do they fuck. But that's politics. Did Trump repeal abortion when he got in? No chance. But traditional Democrats crossed over in the last election out of sheer frustration with the status quo.

Now Biden and Co. need to convince those people that they're worth voting for, the same Biden who was the vice president of the administration that people wanted to change, and change radically. That said, plenty of Republicans won't be too enamoured with Trump this time round. Only problem for the democrats is they keep signalling towards BLM, rioters, defunding police and no moderate will be swayed by that.

We in Europe keep focussing on the drama, the headline issues, but when it comes to voting people everywhere vote for the basics..be it in Ireland, Spain, Australia, whatever. Economy, security, education, health etc. That's why Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil keep getting back in in Ireland and yet European elections can be totally unpredictable. Americans are voting for what happens on their street, their towns, in their city and state. Are there jobs? Do my kids have a school to go to? Foreign policy and all the other headline grabbers is a sideshow when it comes down to it.

I don't think anyone disagrees with the words, bar a tiny minority, the extremists of the extreme, so tiny as to be essentially negligible. There is a huge supply and demand problem with Nazis these days.

It's the political connotations that I have a problem with. Do you think every sportsperson etc essentially forced into wearing all the propaganda agree with BLM as a political entity? Do they fuck! How many people here are on board with them without reservation? 'No to racism' is sufficient, but ballbags like Lewis Hamilton can't just leave it alone.

Another disgruntled ex CCP'er....
It's interesting what she says about the pandemic.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/aug/18/cai-xia-chinese-insider-hits-out-at-xi-jinping-he-killed-a-party-and-a-country

Q: So you think the epidemic started because Xi did not receive the real information?

At the beginning he did not get the real news, but he said in a meeting on 7 January that the situation was under his personal command. If he knew on 7 January, why did it take until 20 January to announce the outbreak? Officials at all levels hide the truth and report only when they cannot cover up any more. But when he knew the situation on 7 January, he did not make it public or mobilise resources. So shouldn't he bear responsibility?

I've talked to some Chinese people about it and they all point the finger back to him. He was suppressing it from the get go and many many Chinese really can't stand him or the regime. They're cowed though. Sure look what happens when you dissent. Lunacy.

Only question I would have is where does it end? No denying the cause is important but is it going to be taking a knee and the splits for Uighirs, handstand for Palestine, touch your toes for climate change. Surely sport, by its very nature transcends all this stuff and gives us a break from it?

Tencent invested huge money into a streaming deal with NBA last year so as always money talks.
