If he can have manage the vocals with some level of power and not to much of his terrible nowadays screaming and there are not pinch harmonics every 10 seconds it has the potential to be a good night out.
I wonder what sort of drum sound they will go for.

3Arena way to big no?.As usual people reading way to much into these reunions, like Death to all,its a bit of craic. Nostalgic buzz for an hour at a gig.I genuinely couldn't give a  fuck if band members are cashing in ,as long as I have a good night out.

That's about the height of it. If they started recording with a new line up that would be a different story...

... no Layne, no Chain!

I agree with this!

I never got the chance to see Pantera, this will have to do. Whatever anybody thinks about Zakks image or the way he goes on, he's a great guitar player and I'm sure the lads won't let him widdle about aimlessly on stage like he does at his own shows.

Phil and Rex were in fine form at Hellfest and Death to All were fucking phenomenal  :abbath:

I wonder would people have a better view of this if it was promoted as more a tribute to the two dead boyos along the lines of Death to All?

I think at least 95% of people lighting internet aflame with how outrageous they are with this thingy happening wouldn't go to the gig even if Dime and Vinnie are alive and in the band + getting Terry Glaze to guest on selected songs from the first albums.

I don't think I'd go either of the two lads were still alive. I don't hate Pantera and still throw them on the odd time.  Don't think I would have enough nostalgia to justify the trip and ticket.

This, word for word. CFH to FBD still get the odd spin, and the last time I threw on VDOP I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Couldn't be bothered with them when the actual band were playing, and this line up doesn't appeal at all. Wylde's involvement alone is a dealbreaker for me.

What was it about the band that would have put you off seeing them? Most live footage I've seen seems incredible.

Dunno, maybe the whole knuckledragging elements of their behaviour - they all seemed like total dickheads from what behind the scenes & interview footage I've seen of them. The thought of seeing them live never appealed to me.

It must be said that I had bowed out of going to gigs altogether by the mid/late '90s, and that's when they would have been playing over here, I suppose. For instance, I've skipped multiple chances to see Motorhead, Slayer, Ministry etc., some of the bigger bands that I've loved over the years as I just had no interest in gigs at all for about 15-20 years. I've seen Maiden twice, 27 years apart and only saw Slayer for the first time on their farewell tour, so it was probably more to do with the gig thing than them in particular.

But that being said, I still wouldn't go to see the classic line up if they were still around. I thought their live album (and the last 2 studio albums, for that matter) was shit, they really needed a second guitarist for when Diamond was playing solos IMO.

Oh they were/are absolute fucking morons, particularly Anselmo I think that's indisputable. Definitely a large part of the reason that I've largely no time for them bar a few tunes. And they attract a lot of fucking idiots too. But then again, that applies to a lot of bands, metal or otherwise.

I thought they were cool as fuck and those home videos were hilarious when I was a young lad, apart from the last one which was shite as they were barely in the fucking thing. The ultra masculinity of Anselmo might seem a bit embarrassing now, but he was like a God to me and my pals in dem ol 90s.

They were a force of nature live at one point. That footage from Russia when they opened for Metallica is another level.

The footage from the Foundation Forum in 1990 is ferocious too. And sure a lot of the best metal is made by total spas anyway  :abbath:

Couldn't agree more. If I was to filter out every musician that I didn't think was a clown I'd have to get rid of about 30℅ of my collection.

Fuck it I'll be going if they come anywhere near the place

Fair points (I mean I've paid to see Kerry King, Mike Patton, Lars Ulrich and Janick Gers onstage) but I still would't be bothered about them TBH.
