Anathema- The Silent Enigma.
Enslaved- Eld.
Beherit- The Oath of Black Blood.
Paradise Lost- Shades of God.

Snap on Beherit.

Also, Mystic Charm. I was wrong, it's class. Hitting the spot nicely.

Yeah man, savage album. I love the robotic Beherity vocals in the song Mystic Charm. Loads of nice little details dotted across the album, even if it's mostly fairly straight forward.

Oath is great. I enjoy Drawing down the Moon as well. It is a good album but I don't understand why so many people hold it in such high regard plenty of albums even to just come out of Finland alone that are so much better.

Failure - Fantastic Planet (got a remaster a year or 2 ago and sounds great).

Failure - The Heart is a Monster

Failure - Golden (on now, collection of b sides, sounds great).

Sometimes I think I'm more into the production than the songs with these lads but they're interesting nonetheless.

I only have Comfort by them but never delved deeper.

Manic Street Preachers - The Holy Bible

A total 10/10 lock of the week all time classic album. Genius.

Haven't tried Comfort at all as it happens. Any use?

I think what makes it stand apart is just how unusual it sounds. It doesn't quite fit somehow, or that's my impression of it. There's no other album that I've come across that sounds like it, even though there are countless bands who have drawn inspiration from it. That goes back to one of the things I love about early metal records in general- they were pioneering styles so the production values are often a bit off the wall. Studios used to making pop and rock records trying to capture the fucked up spastic sound of something they don't understand at all, resulting in one off production jobs. It's a difficult thing to capture these days with the constant improvements in technology.

Definitely a thread in that. 666 International is likely one that took even the metal studios by surprise

Fossilization: He whos name
Cryptopsy : wispering
Katatonia- sounds of decay
Undergang : various

Well put  :abbath:  :abbath:

Pink Floyd - Animals (2018 remaster)
Dissection - Storm of the Light's Bane

Saw someone suggesting yesterday that Where Dead Angels Lie is a dud in the middle of Storm. Feckin' nonsense; the shtate of some people's ears!

That is what I did always think similar to Fallen Angel of Doom which for me is average at best with dog shit production but I can appreciate it because nothing else sounded like it when it was released. I always thought Sacrament of Blood was far superior to FAOD.

You already had Mysticum and others doing that style of music long before 666 International came out as well as the Aborym debut being released the same year as 666.

Eternal Helcaraxe - Drown in Ash

Cradle of Filth - Godspeed on the Devils Thunder
