Prefer Cerebral Rot to Corpus Offal but both def worth checking out.

Xantotal - Thus Spake Zaratustra
Saritap  -  Sorcerers of the Seven Gods
Nuclear Death  -  Carrion for the Worm

Shame nothing more came of that Saritap project, cool demo.

Rapture - Futile
                 Silent Stage

Evoken - Shades of Night Descending
Immolation - Here In After
Sigh - Ghastly Funeral Theatre
Evoken - Embrace the Emptiness

Woods Of Ypres – Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light

A very good album

I don't think they ever toured outside of North America

Which other album is worth checking out?

All of them. Class band, David Gold was... errr gold.

Skaphos - Cult of Uzura

Started checking these lads out for the first time yesterday. Early stuff is a bit rough, but this one reminds me a bit of Artificial Brain, Chthe'ilist kinda stuff, just a bit less flashy in the guitar department, and with a solid bang of Mgla off the drums.

This sounds promising.

Afterbirth - In But Not Of

I was hooked on this album when it came out a few years ago. It's a weird mix of brutal death metal with almost ambient guitar passages that wouldn't sound out of place on a Cynic album, but it somehow works. Will Smith from Artificial Brain is the singer/gurgler.

Cryptic Shift - Overspace & Supertime

Real Savatage
'Power of the Night'
None of that latter day operatic bollocks, that band died along with Criss Olivia, a classic case of yes that one member really was that important

Criss played on Edge of Thorns (1993) and co-produced it too. This was mere months before he unfortunately died.
So he was part of Gutter Ballet and Streets:A Rock Opera. Both of which are amazeballs.
Although my favourite album is Hall of the Mountain King.

Ah nice, haven't had a chance yet. How does it compare to debut?

Have this blasting through the speakers now properly. Love the vocals too, remind me of Xibalba.
Yep yep, like that. Good call indeed, thanks.

Oh I enjoyed Edge of Thorns too, I actually felt it went back to more song based material plus I think shortly afterwards Doctor Butcher came out which musically fits in with Sirens, Dungeons etc

Yeah, Savatage could do no wrong back in the day really. I was hooked when I first heard The Dungeons are Calling on a compilation tape my friend recorded for me, not too long after the EP was released.
