Yep, it's just hit here in Donegal, all the young ones running to get their stuff charged in case of a power cut. No Tiktok eh, apocalyptic indeed.

Quote from: Carnage on June 13, 2023, 05:17:07 PMJust had mad weather here. Thunder and lightning like I've never seen - constant (and I mean constant) thunder for half an hour, lightning every couple of seconds for the same length of time, serious rain/hail and wind with it. Felt apocalyptic, like being in Twister. Flooding around the town including a section on a fucking hill. Calm as can be again now. Mad.

Yer grand lad, just get the smart meter installed and stop with the beef and we'll have all this climate under control in a jiffy. If you manage to live Spartan enough for long enough, we'll throw in our new weather on demand service for a reduced fee in a couple of decades.

Edit: sorry actually, our weather on demand service is available at the reduced rate for new customers only.

Now seriously, I do love a good thunderstorm. Who doesn't?

Listening to twenty somethings, so full of confidence and sure in their own slightly self-effacing wonderfulness and budding intelligence. Remembering being like that. Wanting to fucking vomit.

Also knowing that in another twenty years time I'll look at forty year olds being more or less exactly the way I am now and thinking, I remember being like that. What a fucking muppet. There's no escape from being a pain in the hole human!

Had this conversation recently, about how obnoxious I/we were at that age. Knew it all, was in love and nothing/nobody else mattered. Trivial things being of the utmost importance. All that shite.

Fucking cringeworthy looking back from middle age, and yeah - I dread to think how Pensioner Me will view Current Me.

Sure if you don't hate yourself from 5minutes ago you're not growing as a person

I hate myself five minutes in the future. It's good to stay on top of the game.

Came across this: http://irishclowns.com/

Surprisingly, I'm not on it

Edit: turns out I am, under the clowns section

I heard the term "pronoia" this morning, for the first time. It has had various meanings over the years but the way it was presented was an older and more traditional form, in the sense that the universe generally conspires in your favour. The opposite of paranoid. It struck me that it would make some of the threads on here into very entertaining reading if the spin was pro, rather than para

I wonder who really won this fight he's talking about?  ;D

Defenders of the free world and all that. Been reading as much as I could on this lately and fuck is it one of the worst things possible. Really sticks in the craw whenever these lads talk about justice, democracy and the rule of law etc. Must balance this one with other countries' stuff so I don't get caught up in thinking there's good and bad guys
