It's been getting plenty of spins over the last few months. Great album.

EDIT: Feel I should give a heads up about how much of a mixed bag this is. The first tune is strange but excellent, as is the album, but stick with it. Lad from Sleaford Mods is on the third track and the closer makes it all worth while.

John Kimble's recommendation of that JF Flynn album is right on the money, superb stuff.

Take heed, he's a cop you idiot!

;)

Is that the same guy who did the song for The Detectorists? If so I'll have to keep my eye out for a CD. Fantastic voice.

Nah, that's John Francis Flynn's first album.

Ah, no idea who that is so. Back to my dungeon.

This is probably only up for the day. Jesus, it's savage. FFO: Portishead - Third, Chelsea Wolfe etc.

Watched this last year when it came out.  Absolutely class, definitely firing it on again soon.  It's up until Sunday according to twitter.

I liked the little promo but wasn't arsed watching it live. Should def be released as an album.

Cool. I'll dip back in a few times over the next few days so.

Nice one. Liking that and the cover they did was class  so will check out the album.

Comus - First Utterance (1970)

I've been getting into a lot of late 60's/early 70's folk music lately but I've never heard anything quite like this, completely over the top, theatrical, weird, dark, slightly gothic folk, a poor comparison might be Tom Waits but whereas his weirdness is based in blues/jazz, these guys were based in folk. Well worth a listen.

It's a great album! Good shout! Opeth were apparently big fans of the band. Their album title My Arms, Your Hearse is from the lyrics to Drip, Drip on  that album. Pretty sure I read they stole the title The Baying of The Hounds from another Comus track too.

The second Comus album is worth a listen if you like that era of prog but it's largely a completely different sound to this one.

Anyone into hip hop the Armand Hammer album from last year, Haram, is class. Pretty sure I posted Billy Woods in here at some stage. New Earl Sweatshirt is great as well.

Yeah class album, need to give it more listens though. That whole crowd are so prolific it's hard to keep up with all of the quality.

This may interest yourself if you're into BW and Earl...check out Mach Homy's album 'Pray for Haiti'. I think he's released about 3 albums in the last year, but that's the one I heard after seeing it in some best of list.
