Was listening to the new Wovenhand yesterday. Good in parts but a fair bit of filler. He's some talent, but he left his best days behind him with 16 Horsepower.

A YouTube stumble upon. I'd say a few of ye music junkies know them, but they're brand new to me. I'm getting a bit of Chris Isaac, maybe a bit of Jeff Buckley here and there, and a bit of desert fuzz. Going down nicely anyway.

Ah nice one. I stumbled across that myself a year or so ago and lost track of it, couldn't remember the name. Great album, not sure who they remind me of. Bit of Mark Lanegan (musically, not vocally), Soulsavers, Richard Hawley in there maybe?

I can't be fucked going back through this whole thing to see if I've posted about FACS before. Incredible band

Good shout. Ochoill gave me a heads up on them. Their album "Present Tense" is very good indeed.

Lol this is circular, I was chatting to himself about this album a few months back too

Anyway yes it is class, I deeply love Present Tense, in the past week alone I've had it on about four times again.  Really unique and savage.  They do a lot of different things even on this one record but the song that sounds like Swans covering MGMT is particularly ridiculous.

Any band that use this much reverse reverb are an essential listen (see also Just Mustard)

I know you'll have told me about this but that description has me intrigued

I did but I can't remember if you listened to it or not, I gave you it the same time as The Austerity Program's "Bible Songs".

Whole album is deadly but the second song was the one I was using that description for.

Yeah I remember forgetting about it now!

Seeing as two of them are back playing together in some form, now's a good time to recommend Unwound. I couldn't decide what to recommend cos it's all gold but we'll go with their final record, "Leaves Turn Inside You" .

I can never describe this band properly which is the joy of them. Post hardcore/indie with a sort of cinematic, psychedelic feel on this album. Start here, work backwards, and they get noisier on each previous record. I'd also reccomend "Repetition" as a more concise starting point. RIYL early Sonic Youth, Wire, Hoover, Slint but not like any of those bands.

Been listening to this all morning seeing as the new one is out to tomorrow
Black Midi "Cavalcade"

Pretty much the closest thing I can think of in spirit to a current Mr. Bungle.

Threw this on the other day. Not bad but hard to describe as you say. The drumming was pretty weird
