Yeah, his vocals stick out like a sore thumb in that context. Thankfully not much of them.

There was that Blood Moon album that is Converge / CW / Steve Brodsky, which was lethal on the first few spins but wore off very quickly unfortunately.  The Roadburn set they did though (it's on youtube) is immaculate.

I like Aaron Turner in general and love his vocals but they are sort of needless on that song off Hiss/Spun.

Never minded them with ISIS but it killed the mood with CW.

Listened to Venera self titled last night and thought it was well worth the half hour or so. Munky from korn and some guests on some tracks. Was a lot better than I expected from the description. Was mostly curious about the Vowws collab on it but the whole thing was decent.

Speaking of Vowws and related to the last couple of posts, they have a track on the second album where there's a bit of scream type vocals tacked on there for the metal crowd and it doesn't suit the album at all.

Would still recommend both Vowws albums highly just not that one song

Similarly themed, but I find the screamed vocals distracting when I listen to Myrkur, much prefer her clean singing.

Yeah I only listened to one of their albums back in the day and thought the same. Sometimes it's fine to leave the music heavy and not feel the need for the harsh vocals tacked on. It's something I feel is lacking a bit is good heavy music with clean vocal styles.

There was a previous tune called Dusk released a month or so ago. Far mellower than this.

I really like a lot of CWs music but ive always felt there's something incredibly contrived and calculated about her that bugs me. Also it bugs me that the song "Spun" is blatantly just one of the riffs from Neurosis' "Locust Star".

That show in the Sugar Club a few years back was magic though

Not really sure where to put this, so here it goes. Short making-of film about the new/last Beatles tune:

Great watch. Pretty cool what they did.

Just noticed one of the engineers in that video is wearing a Poison Ruin t shirt.

Ah nice, I was wondering what it was!  :abbath:

Poison Ruin are cool. I have been meaning to grab one of their records but have yet to do so.

Chelsea Wolf always seemed completely contrived to me. Non metal for metallers... I dunno. Nothing about it rang true or seemed interesting.

That was a kinda sad watch. I'm no fanatic myself other than I love the self titled and am OK with a good bit of the other stuff but the finality of that was somewhat bleak to me.

Hopefully nirvana have a song or two left in em... wouldn't be the same at all though given that Nirvana was a far less democratic process by all accounts
