I never checked that out. I thought Ashes Against the Grain was alright but not a patch on The Mantle, which I think is a brilliant album. Subsequently Marrow of the Spirit (the self referential album title didn't help matters) passed me by. Might be time to check it out, eh?

Without a shadow of a doubt the best heavy metal compilation I've ever come across. Not a dud in sight.

Visigoth- Final Spell.  Seven Golden Ships on now.  Unreal fucking tune.

Slough Feg- Digital Resistance. An overlooked gem in their catalogue. I remember it seemed to be generally dismissed when it came out but I loved it then and it still kicks arse now.

Revelation- Inner Harbour. Not only overlooked, properly maligned! A superb album.

Golden Dawn/ Apeiron- Split 12"

Celtic Frost- Morbid Tales.

Mystifier- Wicca. Göetia might be a bit better but this album is great too. I love their mid-paced sepulchral evil.

I only got into it in the last year or two but it is indeed also a savage album.

Mortem - Decomposed by Possession
Varathron - Walpurgisnacht
Varathron - Patriarchs of Evil
Iron Maiden - Somewhere In Time
