EXHUMED - Horror (2019)

Apogean - Cyberstrictive. Decent listen for some of ye heads into modern tech-death.

The Gathering - Always... love the old doom/death vibes combined with keyboardd.

Iced Earth - Something Wicked This Way Comes. Threw it on due to the nostalgia of it being the first "underground" (which is to say, not obvious gear like Metallica, Maiden, etc) I had when I was young. The combination of more muscular power metal/less meathead thrash works, but found this a chore to sit through.

EXHUMED - To The Dead (2022)

I can't believe I slept so long on most of their albums. I think I still prefer 'Slaughtercult' but the likes of this album, 'Anatomy Is Destiny' and 'Horror' absolutely rip.

I've watched a bunch of music videos, interviews and guitar related stuff on youtube since seeing the documentary, Matt Harvey in particular seems a really cool guy. Must pick up some more Gruesome stuff too.

MASSACRE - From Beyond (1991)

Always loved the guitar sound on this album, and those riffs... Immense.

D'un Autre Temps - Nos Memories

A perfect death metal album. Such a 'chewy' guitar tone.

Absolutely. Rozz can pretty much recreate it live too.

N.P. - DEICIDE - Banished By Sin (2024)

Solid album, probably their best since Stench... although it still lacks that aura they captured with the Hoffmans. Which I guess is partly becuase they aren't young lads anymore, and also the production values feel way more polished, and obviously the current line-up are very different players.

But it goes beyond that IMO. Even on those last few albums with the brothers, despite being their weakest until that point, and especially live, they had a genuine air of menace and barely contained violence that went beyond the satanic imagery etc. Like, when they played live, you felt uneasy but also totally fucking energized.

I imagine, aside from the fact they still had some of their youthful intensity and a desire to just fucking destroy in the live arena, a lot of that was due to tension and the fact they fucking hated each other, but still, it gave them an edge that has been lacking since.

VASTUM - Patricidal Lust (2013)

PUNGENT STENCH -  For God Your Soul... For Me Your Flesh (1990)

Wheel - Charismatic Leader
Gamma Ray - Power Plant
Rotting Christ - Rituals
Bunker 66 - Portraits of Dismay

PUNGENT STENCH - Been Caught Buttering (1991)
