Some of those bad ones just needed to be renamed.

Michael Owen is a passable Jimmy Carr
Mussolini is Geordie Walker
Daley Thomspon is some asylum seeker
Elvis is obviously Steven Seagal
Tony Blair is Loki
Sarah Ferguson is Florence & The Machine

I'm guessing the Hitler one is supposed to be from after he was set on fire?

Daley Thompson is Borat.

U2 get shit on a lot, and to be fair they have been treading water for 25 years now  but Joshua Tree is a stunning piece of work, it's in my top 10 albums of all time across all genres, and the way they reinvented themselves on Achtung Baby is one of the greatest feats in rock music, the zoo tv tour and that stage setup and concept was fucking unbelievable at the time...

I've never listened to Joshua Tree at all. Every now and again I read something about U2 and I'm tempted but so far no. Maybe I'm being a bit unfair putting the personality before the music

Agreed. They were a great, great fucking band. The stylistic leap from Unforgettable Fire to Joshua Tree is one, the leap to Achtung Baby and all that ensued at that time is another. Most bands never even do it once.

Pop is my favourite U2 album, and I've been a fan since The Unforgettable Fire. Nothing after Pop is worth bothering with but by jaysus they were mighty in their day.

Yeah Pop would be the last album from them that I liked, and it's a great album which gets shat on quite a bit, however I do think the tour for the the album was a bit of a basket case where they tried to outdo ZooTV, which was understandable, but just didn't work..

I love the video from that tour, Popmart I think it was? The lemon thing was a ball of shite but the rest of it was mighty.

I fucking loved the Discotheque single. They were good craic when they weren't all inserting themselves up Bono's hole.

Me older brother had Unforgettable Fire and Joshua Tree on hapes in the house when I was a kid, great albums.

I'm no expert on U2 by any stretch but I like the early stuff when I hear it on the radio. I remember when Achtung Baby came out and the singles were played a lot on The Beat Box and on the radio. I fucking despise everything I heard from that and the next one. There were a couple of good tunes thereafter- the one where Boner forgot his wife's birthday or something so he wrote a song for her as an apology... I can picture the video but the song title is gone. That was a cool tune. I think after that they became musical wallpaper.

The Sweetest Thing. Awful shite that one, it's an old song that was rerecorded for a greatest hits compilation, if memory serves.

I like it. Everything else around then we raw sewage.

I picked up that U2 double disc collection with the gold cover a few years back in Dealz and it hasn't managed to make its' way out of the plastic wrap yet. Every time I think of throwing it on I start thinking of Bono and I find something else to go with. Tis shallow, tbf

Chance picks in Dealz have been generally kind to me over the years and it's an awful pity they gave up on that because now I usually have nothing to do when the missus is going around the shops, picking things up and putting them down again

I did a wonderful amount of laughing at this today if anyone fancies something a bit more lighthearted
