These reel things appear on my Facebook of American female stand up comedians. They can last about a minute or two and they've one major thing in common.

They're not fucking funny.

At all.

Now there is one Called Taylor Tomlinson  who I would absolutely buck the hole off but she's as funny as the time I had my ingrown toenail cut out when the anesthetic didn't work.

Don't click on them and they'll stop appearing: the algorithm is punishing you for your own morbid curiosity

I'm a rugby fan, a Connacht fan and a fan of Finlay Bealham, Connacht's tighthead prop. He's famously a fan of metal, Amon Amarth and all that shite. After checking dates, it turns out he's about 6 months older than Vulgar Dislpay...

It just got me to thinking - that era would be 'classic rock' to people of that age but to metal fans, would they view it through the same lens?

I don't think of 30 year old albums in those terms, but then I'm much older than my chosen test subject.

Is this like how I think of Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, is that how they think of GNR and Nirvana?

The difference being that Vulgar Display is still quite a heavy sounding album, would that be the equivalent of one of us old fuckers hearing Sabbath Bloody Sabbath 30 years later, for instance?

I know what you mean. I've a sort of time warp thing going as well where I think music from the 90s still sounds new.

On a related note I was at work lately talking about films and I mentioned Heat, saying I was going to watch it later. "Is that old?" says the wan. "Nah it's from the late 90s" says I. "I wasn't even born then ya fuckin eejit" she says.

 :'(

I had a similar thing a few years ago when I mentioned seeing Maiden in the Point in 1990 to a lad, he said "I wasn't even born". The same lad is a singer in 2 bands now.

To be fair quality music of any genre is absolutely timeless. There's no shortage of music that doesn't age well at all but the good stuff still sounds fresh and exciting no matter how old it is.

You know those people who look Chinese but aren't. I wonder if there are Chinese people who look extra Chinese. A bit TOO Chinese! Even the Chinese look at them and wonder... are they?

A mate called around earlier and - out of the blue - handed me a prized possession: Faith No More's Angel Dust on first press double vinyl, signed by all of the band and framed. Sweet.

Now this should be in the Simple Pleasures thread, if not for the fact that he said something along the lines of "you'd be getting it eventually anyway, so why wait?" Has me worried, he said he was alright and didn't hang around long enough for a proper chat so I reckon I'll have to keep an eye on him. He's had a lot of shit thrown his way recently.

christ man that's more than a little unnerving, I'd be having a word with his nearest and dearest if I was you

Aye. That's not good talk at all.

Yeah, I might give his mother a call, I'd rather run the risk of ruffling feathers and be wrong than the alternative.

Yeah, it's that or take him for a pint and get him talking a bit

Good man.  Yeah dig him out for a pint somewhere unusual to break the habits a bit and maybe let a few people know to keep an eye.  Fair dues for spotting it too.
