I have a standing ticket for Sunday if you're still looking for one

Wife bought me the ticket and I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. They sound good, the songs are good, if you get past the fact that it's a massive stadium and 75% of people there are event junkies, it's enjoyable.

Don't know how they work out playing on a massive roundabout of a stage  they seemed to lose their time during Sad but True.

Kirk and Robert's "jam" is utterly pointless,  that'd be my only gripe

Enjoyed that last night despite the rain and the 1 hour it took to get to the red cow afterwards. Pretty well organized. Great to be able to get so close to them down on the pitch. Of course the sound was ropey - its a fucking bowl. Missed the openers (no loss there), Pantera were grand - not my thing but enjoyable enough. 4 songs from Puppets was cool. I thought they played the black rose parts pretty well to be fair, but yes, id rather see a Justice song instead of it. A few unnecessary songs on the list but hey thats what you get.  Sadly we probably have Whisky and Sandman tomorrow night - no escaping them ha! Hopinng for a few more of RTL and Justice too though.

They were handing them out in the donation clinics, I'd say if you go in and donate on Monday on D'Olier St they'll have some (I got mine in James' as that is where the platelet donations are done)

Thanks. Where I am we don't have a spot it's just a clinic that shows up in a school gym every 3 - 4 months or whatever the that period is where you can't donate again after the last donation. The place in D'Olier St is closed so ill give them a ring on Monday see if I can get a shirt. It's a bit dumb as as well expecting people to donate around a concert that they are going to be drinking alcohol at.

anyone looking for a pitch ticket for tomorrow night PM me....

Quote from: open face surgery on June 20, 2026, 12:57:08 PMI did find the beachballs during Seek and Destroy odd.

They've been doing that for a while, though it depends on the song. In Munich they did the beach balls for Seek and Destroy, then Breadfan on the Sunday.

But even back in Belfast in 2010 they had the big balls for Seek.

Maybe I'm getting old, but S&D and Puppets bore me a bit.

After the 5 shit new songs they were a good buzz. Haven't listened to either of those albums and never will. Have little to no interest in Metallica but enjoyed myself. Also, it was free which is exactly how much I'd spend on them

Never saw them, neither had my fiancé so we headed up. Drive up and down job. Overall enjoyable but setlist left me wanting anyways.

What I'm hearing a lot of is "They'll play those Sunday/wait for Sunday/what do you expect 2 nights". Fuck sake not everyone is going both nights. Ah well.

What's this "What, you expected decent sound at a stadium? You fool!" shit? Paying through the nose for anything, it's normal to expect decent sound. And when the time and effort is put in, that's what you get. Compensation for empty versus full is child's play these days: if the sound is shit, it's down to organizers not giving a shit and relying on enough people to either not care or say "What, you expected decent sound at a stadium? You fool!"

Was there last night and going tomorrow. Got tickets as a present so major win. Was pleasantly surprised. Metallica have not been on my radar for a long time. Seen them loads of times before. No interest in any of the new stuff but they did sound OK.
Loved harvester of sorrow 2nd track in so that got me going. All the stopping and starting bothered me at the start but I'll give them a pass considering the ages.
FYI missed all the support and I was there around 7.20pm so anyone wanting to check out gojira get there early. Metallica were on at 8.20pm sharp for a 2 hour set. Looking forward to tomorrow night, weather should be better.

Aside from missing Pantera, i was happy with the gig. The Metallica family spiel is cringe, and the pointless doodle i could have done with out, but it was a thoroughly enjoyable gig overall.

Missed Pantera by the time I'd gotten up to Dublin. I'd seen them when played 3 Arena and twas only alright so I wasn't bothered about missing them. I'd like to see Gojira though so I'll have to wander in earlier tomorrow.

Quite enjoyed Metallica bar a couple songs. The Day That Never Comes is a bit of a guilty pleasure so I was happy to hear that last night. The other DM song was rubbish though. I've only listened to 72 Seasons once and it did nothing for me but one of the songs off it sounded good last night, the other one not so much. The Rob and Kirk stuff is always dire but handy to go for a piss.

I've never rated Sad But True, I'd much rather hear The God That Failed.

Sound was fine for Metallica in my seat. Poor for Pantera. Maybe the in the round setup leaves it harder to work everywhere? Not sure not my forte!

The extended intros are a bit of a buzzkill alright and the doodle is a waste, especially compared to something like the To Live Is To Die jam section from Seattle 89 then blasting into Puppets.

We're all the Metallica family, until Kirk throws a handful of picks into the crowd, at which point it's every man, woman, child, and baby for themselves. Hair gets pulled. Eyes get raked. Fingers get shoved in holes you didn't even know you had.
