Jealous, so I am. Great to hear it was a success  8)

Being a cynical prick I didn't think I'd enjoy Sandman or Whisky In The Jar but they were both great. For Whom The Bell Tolls and Blackened were the high points for me.

Only 3 duds* in that setlist, much better night. I still wouldn't cross the road to see them but I'm sure it was great craic.

*Screaming Suicide, Whiskey In The Jar and the 'doodle'

I wish the song they had to play to get outta Dublin alive was in fact And Justice For All.  :abbath:

Hope you got to meet James for the pep talk Bobby  ;)  ($Billions$)

Was a very enjoyable gig - Hetfield really holds it all together - monster guitar player. Very pleasantly surprised by Blackened and Fade to Black.

Gojira were pure class. Knocked Loose gave it socks but the sound wasn't great.

My young fellas first gig. One for the memory bank 🤘

Gojira marre by a poor sound like Pantera before them,

On reflection and after weighing it all up I think Friday was the better gig. Way more energy from the band and crowd plus a good bit longer set at least 15 mins extra. Was in thr luas last night and heard a few guys saying the same but overall great weekend of metal.

Night 2 better all-round. Better set, better sound, better weather. Enjoyed Gojira more than Pantera, surprisingly.

Night 2 was good nothing exceptional for me then again I wouldn't consider myself a Metallica die hard. The set was shorter last night by at least 20 mins. Finished up at 5 past 10 then dragged out the crowd cheering for about 20 mins. Great that they finished with Enter Sandman as it mean't being able to leave early and beat the crowds for the DART.

Really annoying them teasing Justice for all then playing Whiskey in the jar instead reminded me of the last time Carcass were here when they played that intro to ruptured in purulence then burst into shitty Heartwork. No Fight fire with fire they played Blackened instead can't complain as it's also a great song. Caught the end of Gojira and glad I skipped them awful shite.

Dirty old town was much better than Black Rose on Friday and at least it shows they put a bit of thought into it as I doubt they are playing Dirty old town at any of the other shows.

Don't regret going and enjoyed it but it would take something special for me to go to see them again like playing one of the first 4 albums in full. In saying that will they play here again as before last Friday they had only played here once in the last 17 years which was Slane. Well 16 years if you count the Belfast shows in 2010 which is very strange since they've always been a band that does well here. The lads are all in their mid 60's and who knows how long Lars can keep going. Once one of the three steps down I don't see the band continuing.

Got the last bit of Knocked Loose, not my thing at all. The Gojira drummer is unreal but can't help but feel like they are a sophisticated Soulfly  but they were good, enjoyable.

Night 2 was better overall I thought, the atmosphere where we were was anyway, plenty of moshing going on which surprised me, setlist wise the middle didn't feel meandering like on Friday and even the likes of Whiskey/Sandman which I usually despise, in that setting worked well. Even the doodle was more of a sing song. Again strong start with Whiplash into For Whom the Bell Tolls and towards the end with Blackened/One all solid. Felt the band stayed over one side of the arena this time compared to Friday though, really didn't get Hetfield over our way much. The snakepit in the middle really makes them focus on that.

In terms of them continuing, I would wonder would they start doing load/reload tours with some hits sprinkled at start and end, could definitely see them doing Outlaw/Bleeding/Low mans lyric/hero etc. Always thought they would go back to that sound for the latter end of their career. Agree that if either 3 drop off then it's the end. Overall, thought it was worth it compared to GNR, GNR didn't feel worth the money at all.

I was saying to the wife yesterday, I reckon if they wrote music they actually liked they might still have something creative to offer. Whether or not that would be metal is almost irrelevant. Imagine an album full of songs the likes of Until It Sleeps! That would be really dark, brooding and interesting. Such a fucking cool song.

I am glad to hear that as i had to miss night 2. ;D  As someone else said it could well be the last time they play here given the average length of time between their gigs in Ireland. Lars said on Friday they need to come here more often, but i'm sure he said the same thing after Slane.

Kinda agree with this, even though I have no real interest in the Load albums. That said, they're streets ahead of anything that came after and the last few albums, where they've attempted to revert to a 'thrashier' sound, are particularly uninspired.

And based on the feedback from last night, im half annoyed with myself for not picking up a last minute ticket for myself and the young lad. I wasnt really arsed with bringing a 12 year old to a packed gig and all the hassles of trying to get home afterwards.

Sunday setlist is far better than Friday for sure. Was picking between the two and wanted to see Pantera so I've no issue.

Until it sleeps is an awful song and it really slowed down the momentum last night after the 3 tracks that preceded it. I couldn't see them doing a Load or Reload tour I would guess even the band themselves at this point knows they are regarded as shite albums.

I know someone who went to Kirk thing in the Academy and he said they are working on new music.

Checked out some of the 72 seasons songs after the show with the trashy bits and on record it just sounds stale. Sounded a lot heavier and faster live.
