Until it Sleeps is great. It doesn't sound like AIC as such, but certainly had some of that kind of darkness and negativity to it. I imagine if Hetfield wrote a heap of interesting tunes on the acoustic and the used that as a starting point they'd have the potential to make a really good album. Or something at least a bit more real sounding than the geriatric thrash they've been at for years where it sounds like they are trying to figure out what the Metallikids will want rather than just doing something of their own... but sure, what do I know. They are still filling stadiums

Until It Sleeps had a working title of Fell On Black Days as it was heavily influenced by Soundgarden (nerd fact).
I would rate it as their last truly great song.
Apparently the main riff to Sandman was Hammetts attempt to write a riff in the same style as Soundgarden too (nerd fact 2)

Until It Sleeps is a class song. Could go as far as saying it's among the last good songs they wrote. 30 years ago.

Yeah definitely. I mean, I've not spent much time with anything after it so there may well be one or two hidden gems, but Until It Sleeps is great.

Enjoyed both nights, second night sitting was also pretty good.  $ off Puppets the first night and 4 off RTL the second night was great. I enjoyed Whiskey (oddly) and though Until it Sleeps was great too, always liked that song though. Nice to hear One and Blackened of course.  Overall - 2 great nights, dodgy stadium sound to be expected but cool.

Quote from: Eoin McLove on Today at 11:11:56 AMI was saying to the wife yesterday, I reckon if they wrote music they actually liked they might still have something creative to offer. Whether or not that would be metal is almost irrelevant. Imagine an album full of songs the likes of Until It Sleeps! That would be really dark, brooding and interesting. Such a fucking cool song.
Looking back on it now, St. Anger was the last album that had any creativity or actual expression of themselves, a lot more than can be said for the ones that came afterwards.

I like Until It Sleeps but didn't think it fit well in that slot in the set.

Lars lets them down so much. He is a lot tighter than he was 20 years ago but is it really that difficult to play something remotely like the original recording? Hes a huge part of what made them what they are business wise but his playing on the first 5 albums is equally as important.

Still another good night. Sound was cat for Gojira but they were decent and seemed to go down better than expected with the crowd.

Lars is far from the weakest link!
The weakest is Kirk, he messes up far more than anyone.

Until It Sleeps is a brilliant song, I remember seeing the video for the first time on MTV when it was released.
Didn't know what to think back then. Load is a great album overall.

If they did a Load/Reload tour I wonder would they have to go down in size capacity wise?
A set based on those 2 albums with 2/3 of the old classics could be brilliant but could also leave day trippers lost.

Until they start writing as a band instead of that chopping up bits of riffs and pasting them together anything new will be cock.
Those making of docs for Death Magnetic and Hardwired make it all seem so clinical.

Imagine being as talented behind the kit as Mario Duplantier and then having to watch Ulrich.

I remember recording Until It Sleeps off the 2fm metal show.I really liked Load.King Nothing was great to hear aswell.

I thought the same, although Mario is a hard act to follow for any drummer. He actually came back out for the start of Metallicas set.

I don't think a Load/Reload tour would do much worse, I'd say the majority of the "event junkie" Sandman fans couldn't even tell you what album it's on and theres no pleasing the rest of us that want Justice in full regardless.

It's an amazing money making machine they have on the road. We can moan about the price of tickets & merch but they are no worse than any other big band for it, and it seems the schmucks have no problem paying for early access and all this carry on which is probably where a lot of the profit comes from. You can't really knock them for taking the money and running either, they put on a decent show, get close and involved to the crowd and have brought out 2 decent main supports.

As regards ticket prices 190 for both shows was the most reasonable I've seen for an act that big in ages.

Got in for the end of Knocked Loose, awful stuff

Gojira we're decent, sound was pretty shit but seemed to improve a bit as they went on

Wasn't at the Friday show, but reckon yesterday was a better setlist, Ktulu, Lightning and Blackened probably the highlights

Yeah no issues here other with price i thought it was good value.
I think there are some good songs on Death magnetic and I really thought Mith into the flame was brilliant last night

Until it Sleeps is a good song, but i  disagree that it's their last great song. A couple of songs off Death Magnetic are fairly good too.
