The sound wasn't great for most of Metallicas set. The music sounded like they were playing from 5 miles away and I couldn't hear most of the vocals. It did get good for the last half hour or so.

Does anyone know are the seats around the pitch assigned to people or can standing ticket holders sit in them? Sat in them for a bit last and it was nice to get the rest. I wouldn't mind checking out the Pop Idol hardcore band on Sunday but not if it means standing around the field for 5 hours.

Quote from: BobbyAxelrod on June 20, 2026, 12:00:46 PMYou'd think they'd dial in the sound during sound check...

An empty stadium and a full stadium have very different acoustic profiles, sound bounces around a lot more in one and is absorbed/deadened more in the other.

Quote from: Black Shepherd Carnage on June 20, 2026, 12:01:11 PMListing Leper Messiah as a dud but not Fuel is certainly a choice!

The correct one. Leper Messiah is plodding, turgid shite while, as basic and knuckledragging as Fuel is, at least it has some oomph to it and is a great one to get up and go to.

Not sure what people in here expected! I was in pitch standing and the sound was great. The setlist was much better than I expected considering their previous setlists and the last 40 minutes were absolutely brilliant!

With regards to fuel being played, that song lifted everyone - even the "casual" fans so it definitely has a place in a metallica set.

Over all a fantastic gig and bring on Sunday!

I did find the beachballs during Seek and Destroy odd.

I actually thought Nothing Else Matters was great and that's a song I'd normally skip whereas I thought "Metallica gives you heavy" Sad But True sound a bit weak and plodding. But in saying that I've been looking at the setlists, they post them on instagram after each show so it's fair to say you know what you are getting. The opening 4 numbers and Battery/Seek/Master Of Puppets were worth the price for me.

On the blood drive thing, I go in to donate every couple of months anyway and didn't realise this was happening when I went earlier in the week. They just had a few boxes of shirts and said I can grab one or two if I wanted. They're pretty decent, nice little surprise to get

Top class Irish journalism as always.

Same pricks last week did a GNR review saying Axl finally turned up on time. That gig was their 4th in Ireland since he walked off the stage at the 3 arena.

It's The Irish Times, what would you expect from that rag?

And ever since Slash rejoined he is always on time. It was probably one of the stipulations for Slash to come back.

Well according to RTE this week it's up there along with themselves as some of the most trusted news sources in the country

No idea if they have them in the shop or just the clinic. I reckon if you just head into Dolier St though they'd probably let you grab one. When I asked the guy on the desk if I could take an extra for my missus he told me to work away, didn't seem overly fussed

The middle of the set was chronic poor to be fair after such a great opening.

Fuel is grand in a live setting it does work well. Of course we'd sacrifice it for Dyers Eve or something, but I'd take it over Whiskey/Sandman or anything off the last 4 albums.

Band sounded good in fairness. Some of the AI visuals very questionable.

Pantera are getting a bit boring now, definitely need a lot more CFH stuff or some deeper cuts. Its amazing that Phil was right and a huge amount seemed to have no idea who they were.

Cheers. Whats on Dolier St? Is that were people donate? I am not living in Dublin and donate locally were I live.

Most bands have AI visuals now with vast majority being questionable.

Made sense re Pantera when Hetfield asked if it was your first time at a Metallica gig, seemed like half the crowd roared for that. Plenty of lads wouldn't have looked out of place at a GAA match
