Both Damnation and Deliverance had some excruciatingly dull moments and I think that's where a lot of folks patience became sorely tested. That said, maligned would be way too strong a term and their overall body of work is very consistent. The title of this thread surely applies to stuff where the overwhelming consensus is that the band is, and for the most part aways has been, shite.

I continually see people bitching about the original mix of Peace Sells, I don't get it. For me, it's one of the best sounding albums of the 80's. I wouldn't change a thing. The Mustaine remix needs to fuck off and die somewhere.

Never heard any bitching about the original mix, it sounds grand to me. Agreed about the remaster though. I made the mistake of picking up 3 of them (that, SFSGSW and RIP) and they're very disappointing.

There was a remaster of the original Peace Sells mix out there for a reissue a few years back, I must track that down.

I have it' it's a double CD with a gig from Cleveland on the second CD. It's louder than the original, but that's it. You don't need it.

Fuck it so. Is the gig any use at least? I'd imagine it's half KIMB, which is NOMB.

The setlist is:

Intro
Wake Up Dead
The Conjuring
Bad Omen
Rattlehead
Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good
Looking Down The Cross
My Last Words
Peace Sells
These Boots Were Made For Walkin'
Devils Island
Last Rites / Loved To Deth
Mechanix

It's from 1987 with Poland and Samuelson. It's good, but it sounds halfway between a dictaphone and a desk recording. Very odd. It's good, but it's not worth the price of the CD.

Yeah, I'll give it a miss so. One of those that's been sitting on my wishlist for years, I can scrub it altogether.

Whatever abour complaining about the original mix, even if I don't agree, but surely there aren't people who actually prefer the remix!?

I know a dude who's first experience is the remixes and that's all he'll touch. A lost soul indeed.

Aside from Megadave himself you might get younger fans who hadn't heard the original version, like Ducky's mate. Y'know yerself, when you discover new music, it's usually the first version/album you hear that sticks with you. They'd be wrong of course, and must encounter smackums.

They're suffering enough.

I've sometimes wondered if those awful remixes were the result of hearing damage suffered by Mustaine. Like how else could you sign off on such flat, lifeless sounds that sap all the power and atmosphere of the originals?!

They were the first versions I heard, and to be honest I couldn't see why they were so hated

Then a while back I found a cheap original version of Rust and gave it a go. Nearly like a different album! Hearing Five Magics without the Seasame Street backup vocals was something else

As with most things with Dave:more spite than hearing loss. "SOMEONE HAS WRONGED ME! I'M ANGRY AGAIN"

I got into Megadeth in 2002/2003 when I was a teenager. But alot of my mates checked them out a few years later, around 2007 or 2008 and they hated them, even though they liked Metallica, Etc. I couldnt understand why. Then I realised they were listening to the remixes and showed them to proper mixes. Turned into fans straight away, they couldnt get over how different it was.

Made me realise how many people in that generation probably weren't even aware of the original mixes. I believe for awhile the original mixes were taking off the shelves and just the remixed versions could be got. Took awhile for them to pop up on spotify too.
