Yeah cool name is that.

Favourite local band name was a three piece punk band called The Lunchtime Jazz Quartet.

Can you imagine the poor bastards that turned up for the lunchtime jazz

They quickly made a bad name for themselves, fair play

These lads were often compared to Mercury Rev and The Flaming Lips, and their song writing is definitely in the same league, if not better. Fantastic album. Should have been massive.
Fun fact: Jimmy Shields from RS used to be my next door neighbour. Nice fella.

Did his less famous brother live beside you as well?

New Altered Hours song is excellent. Comparing the titles on the tracklist with what I've seen them do live the past couple of years, the album should also be excellent.

The Preoccupations gig last night was fucking amazing. In a tiny club with about 200 people no less. So I've been listening to them on repeat since I got home last night and all this morning. Angular post-punk with new wave influences for those interested.

Loved them as Viet Cong, dropped off them hard with the Preoccupations LP. Is the stuff after that better?

They've just released a new album called Ill at Ease I'm really enjoying. It's very New Wave-y, like something that could have been released in 1982. Bits and pieces almost a bit like Depeche Mode/Echo and the Bunnymen etc.

EDIT: I will add that while I do enjoy the albums a lot, they were way better live.

Peter Gabriel - So

Love this album and haven't had it on in a good while and now I've come back to it I sort of forgot how much I liked it. One or two stinkers on it tbf but overall it's great

The VietCong album was great, was it called Preoccupations? Never followed up after that anyway.

I'm surprised they weren't doing at least 500 tbh

Especially given that's pretty much a hometown show for them

Yen Pox - Blood Music

For the dark ambient heads. Somehow missed this classic from the 90s until now, but it's some of the darkest, most dread-inducing stuff I've heard in a while.

That's pretty amazing. Bleak as fuck.
