Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals - all great. Not a fan of the Barrett-era stuff and I can't stand The Wall. The rest I'm not too familiar with bar the odd track but you can't go wrong with those ones I mentioned.

Cheers gents. I'll give those a snoop.

Anybody else heading to Morrissey in Dublin tonight? (nice replies only)

Wish You Were Here on now. Really good stuff. I'm enjoying it immensely.

Incredible album although I feel the title track is a bit out of place. Animals, Meddle and Dark Side also get my vote and I also like Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Saucerful of Secrets. Not a fan of The Wall although there's some good tunes.

I'll have to pry myself away from the new SVT and grab a few Pink Floyd CDs. I think Wish You Were Here is a beaut of a song.

It is. Flawless album imo. I wasn't sure whether you might have a negative association with that song though. Lots of Irish people do, thanks to Aslan

The middle three tracks, Welcome to the Machine, Have A Cigar, and Wish You Were Here all have such distinct moods and lyrical tones, but lined up in a way that flows perfectly. No need to insist on how perfect the two parts of Shine... are.

I actually like the Aslan version. The band I was in in the late 90s that morphed into The State Pathologist... used to play talent shows (against my will) in the hope of winning a slab or two, which we did the odd time, and we used to cover that song. The Aslan version with the nice harmonies  Once The State Pathologist started playing real gigs I vowed never to play a talent show ever again and I have stuck to that rule religiously. I even generally detest the idea of doing covers that would be appropriate to the music I play now. I might have one exception bubbling in my mind though. So I've got a bit of a complex relationship going on with that song.

That's a pretty funny back story to The State Pathologist. What were ye called?

Fuck man... it went through several iterations over a few years with different band members. It began as Evo Bong (it was called that when i joined. Terrible fucking name  ) and had other equally stupid names but I can't remember any bar Connurbation and the Hot Banana which I came up with for one of the talent shows. The State Pathologist Dr. John Harbison was the best by a country mile and I wouldn't touch that name with a barge pole these days  God be with the days.

I didn't know Aslan covered that, I'm glad I missed that one. Awful, awful band.

I've been listening to a lot of REM the last week or so. The penny dropped for me with them a couple of years ago but then I sort of forgot until latent again and they really are a class band once I got into them.

Great pop music

Still a great band name, if ya ask me!

Ah sure, it's good for what it was.

Always thought that was a great name as well tbh
