Duran Duran are class. Ordinary World was an Atlantic 252 staple. Still love it despite it lacking the funky buzz of the first two albums.

Drudkh: Songs Of Grief And Solitude

I wasn't aware of this at all until yesterday, it's a pleasant surprise.

Depeche Mode: Singles 86>98

I got shitfaced on St Paddy's a lot of years back and woke up to find confirmation emails for tickets and flights booked for Duran Duran....in Texas! Had to scramble to get the time booked off work to go, but ended up going to Austin and having an amazing trip. They were supported by Chic too, who were also awesome.

Seven and the Ragged Tiger is an interesting album to listen to now. It's so clear every chorus was laser-focused on being as catchy as possible the whole way through. It's similar to Hysteria in that regard; both very similar pop albums but one leans metal and the other leans new wave.

I'd say I'd kill to see them with Chic (Nile Rodgers being my favourite songwriter that's still alive), but at the same time can't be arsed going to see that very lineup in Malahide this year

I saw Chic a load of times before they got popular again, most notably in the Milk Market in Limerick, crazy place to see Nile Rodgers do his thing. Fucking God.

Currently listening to Hobo Humpin Slobo Babe by Whale, followed by Ghost Town by The Specials. Both very amazing but for very different reasons.

I've been thinking and listening and have decided that Violator is better than Songs From The Big Chair

Only seen them the once - at The Marquee in Cork in 2018 ("tent in a field, bai" sure wasn't where I'd expect to see such a legend performing) and it was unreal.

NP - Catherine Wheel - "Adam and Eve". Pretty decent mif-90s alternative rawk. Tangential forum musing, their front fella Rob Dickinson, is Bruce's first cousin.

Their first two albums very good. Kill Rhythm from Chrome is a belter.

Kevin Drumm - Sheer Hellish Miasma
Fennesz - Endless Summer

Preoccupations-ill ease, which had a very 80s feel and possibly the best opening track of the year

Bits of the Search Results/Headmelt/Stratford Rise albums, all sounding good

Yesterday was Wipers on a loop. What a band.

Big yes on Wipers.

Didn't know any of their stuff, but saw someone wearing a shirt on a great live session on YouTube, then a few days letter spotted a copy of Youth of America second hand in the record shop, decided to chance it, record shop owner was fairly enthusiastic handing it over. Put it on immediately at home and was blown away.

THAT was a good day

Going to see Preoccupations in a couple of weeks! Women/Preoccupations/Cindy Lee is some band family tree...
