For the dark ambient heads. Somehow missed this classic from the 90s until now, but it's some of the darkest, most dread-inducing stuff I've heard in a while.

Might pop that on next, don't know it either. Chilling out to Daemonia Nymphe's Psychostasia here. An absolutely sublime album.

Black Celebration is a fantastic album. I'll be throwing on Music for the Masses after this.

I haven't listened to DM properly in years. Playing the Angel is the last one of theirs I've heard. Must check out Memento Mori.

There's nothing worth listening to from Playing The Angel right up until Memento Mori at all really but the last one is a real return to form

Rollerskate Skinny - Horsedrawn Wishes

These lads were often compared to Mercury Rev and The Flaming Lips, and their song writing is definitely in the same league, if not better. Fantastic album. Should have been massive.

Fun fact: Jimmy Shields from RS used to be my next door neighbour. Nice fella.

The Preoccupations gig last night was fucking amazing. In a tiny club with about 200 people no less. So I've been listening to them on repeat since I got home last night and all this morning. Angular post-punk with new wave influences for those interested.

"Ill At Ease" is my album of the year so far so if you're now going to tell me they played here and I didn't know about it I'm going to be furious.

The Preoccupations gig last night was fucking amazing. In a tiny club with about 200 people no less. So I've been listening to them on repeat since I got home last night and all this morning. Angular post-punk with new wave influences for those interested.

"Ill At Ease" is my album of the year so far so if you're now going to tell me they played here and I didn't know about it I'm going to be furious.

No I'm in Canada, in Alberta where they're from. Ill at Ease is fucking great though. I must have listened to Focus about 100 times in the past week.

Absolute classic. A real 'event' album for me in that I don't listen to it regularly, but save it for the right time.

The day after my first "proper" gig (Ozzfest 2002), I found myself in Star Music - a defunct record shop here in Sligo, and on their "3 for 20" deal I nabbed...
