Actually I had Violator on last night and I've settled the argument in that Violator is actually way better

Fugazi: Repeater

One of the best albums of all time. Probably the best bass drum sound I've ever heard.

Lads, this is one of the greatest songs of all time:

Quote from: Ducky on June 13, 2025, 12:52:15 AMThe day after my first "proper" gig (Ozzfest 2002), I found myself in Star Music - a defunct record shop here in Sligo, and on their "3 for 20" deal I nabbed...

R.E.M - Reveal (not their best, but some worthwhile songs on there still).
Depeche Mode - "Violator"
The Sisters of Mercy - "Floodland".

That was an incredible day's shopping for sure.
Reveal is.....

Okay

Ah I take it as a fairly late in their discography thing. Nothing mind-blowing, but not bad at all. Or "okay"

Both of these statements are correct. Bass (guitar) tone as well. I get a bit fizzy thinking how good it sounds, especially on "Sieve-Fisted Find".

And that opening to "Blueprint" is one of my favourite guitar parts ever.

This is also correct! Video is iconic too, though I also love the alternative one shot on top of the Twin Towers - a time and a place that no longer exists, plus Fletch is also gone.

Will be listening to this song until the day I tap out myself.

Edit - mildly salty that that intro doesn't seem to exist on any of the album versions.

Haven't listened to that one for a while, great candidate to stick on for the Sunday morning

And from one of the greatest albums of all time

Repeater is lethal.  Violator is lethal.

To the surprise of absolutely no one...

Fugazi - Repeater.
Depeche Mode - Violator.
The Sisters of Mercy - Floodland.

One of the best Sundays I've had in a very long time  :abbath:

If I put on Floodland I'll be matching your Sunday

Rory Gallagher - Calling Card

Deep Purple's Roger Glover produced this
1976

As expected, great playing on this  8)

'Secret Agent' even has a DP sound to it in the main verse :)

Yeah it's his best-sounding album for sure. And probably my favourite (along with "Tattoo"). Last one to feature his best band as well.

Fuck it, even though I was Rory'd out at the festival the other week, gonna stick this on now. Edit - forgot how good that drum sound is on the intro to "Do You Read Me" 8)

Playing is rudimentary; sound is great :)
