Back on a The Cujo Family buzz last few days. Personally still rank this as the best totally unknown album out there:

Quote from: Pentagrimes on December 01, 2025, 05:10:33 PMYeah, saw them with a friend last year and she rightfully pointed out that it kinda felt like some of it was just Lankum without the male vocals.
Percolator are also seriously underrated, definitely time they put something new out as the last few times I'd seen them they were incredible.

So in summary, Waterford> Dublin

Thanks for reminding me to go dust off my copy of Sestra for a few spins again, fuckin love it. Was a real grower for me.

3 albums of Red House Painters this morning. Very Christmassy

Followed that with Jesu/Sun Kil Moon

I think I like it but it's kinda jarring or something

Going for the first Jesu album after this

Oi Polloi: In Defence Of Our Earth

I love the mix of aggression and environmental & political naivety.

I'll get killed for it surely but lads I just love chart rave.  Literally 00's Top 30 Hits style chart rave but also tons of those old Euphoria Hard House CD compilations, nothing remotely obscure here but just savage and busting old dance shit.  I love them.  I currently have the 2001 Lisa Pin-Up CD2 on the headphones and it is every bit as good as I remember it more than two decades back.  From outside this is the cheesiest shit ever but it is just busting and built for zero subtlety.  https://youtu.be/L43E0iAgRok?si=c6UNvvfo4JMdRdk8

The Cure: Boys Don't Cry, Seventeen Seconds, Faith, Pornography.

Currently reading Lol Tolhurst's autobiography so this is the perfect soundtrack.

Must pick that book up, Faith is top tier.

'Tis. The book's good too, I'm about 70 pages into it, it's based on his friendship with Smith and the formation of the band (so far). Flows nicely. I've had worse christmas presents.

Just finished Faith, Hope and Carnage which was great very compelling and pretty deep as you'd expect. So this will scratch my itch.

Been listening to Kalandra a lot lately. The album "The Line" in particular.

Norwich folk/rock, bit poppy.

The Cure: The Top, The Head On The Door, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me

Have you listened to Ghosteen since you read the book? I listened to it again tonight and it fucking destroyed me, jesus it hits hard.

Glen Hansard: various EP & compilitaion tracks

Health - Conflict DLC. This is great, really scratching the pounding industrial metal with soft vocals itch lol

Steve Wilson - Insurgentes. Hadn't listened to this in years but threw it in a few times lately and it's a lot better than I remember thinking at the time. Might even be the best of his solo stuff but I've always found his solo stuff a bit patchy.

Failure - Fantastic Planet. Fantastic album.

Depeche Mode - Memento Mori. Best album they've released in years, definitely since Playing The Angel, which was the last solid one really

I don't know The Top or Head on the Door. I'll pick them up on due course.
