Mass of the Fermenting Dregs.  I didn't expect a band name like this to sound like it does.  But it is still savage.  J-Rock/post-rock, quick to get into, tons to dig into, great album.

Fleetwood Mac: Tango In The Night

I've always enjoyed pop music. Apart from the Now... and Hits albums in the '80s, I bought albums by Kylie, Tiffany, Belinda Carlisle etc. - fuck off, nothing tops a good T'Pau or Transvision Vamp session - but the first 'proper' band album I bought was Tango In The Night in 1987, and I've loved it for the almost 40 years since.

By jaysus has it aged, it's as '80s as it gets but it's so, so good. Little Lies and Isn't It Midnight are perfect '80s pop hits, and the brilliance of Big Love is undeniable.

I'm in mullet heaven.

I absolutely love that album. Agree with everything you're saying here. May dig out the CD for the car today

The Afghan Whigs - Soft Control (first listen and good gear to these ears)

Must give that a go, love the Whigs
Giraffe-The Towering Inferno woth Bongo Drums
L'Rain-Fata Morgana

Bronski Beat: The Age Of Consent

Reading Richard Coles' autobiography and it touches on this. Some great stuff beyond the hits. Very political.

Cocteau Twins - Garlands
Obviously always knew the name but never listened to them before. Fairly blow away by it. Savage stuff.

Yeah that early stuff is amazing in particular

In amongst listens to the new Mastodon, it's the Erykah Badu & Alchemist lp for me this morning

I have one of their albums, not that one, and it never made an impression on me. Might be worth a revisit.

Garlands is class top tier for me

This seems a bit warpier than the other stuff I heard. From what I read, the og bassist left after this album. He was class.

I had Four Calendar Café on tape (might still have it), it was decent from what I remember but I haven't heard it for about 20 years. The other bits I've heard have been good, I'm long overdue a proper deep dive.

Stars and Topsoil is a great compilation if you're looking to dip the toes in.

Might have a look, cheers. I had Lullabies To Violaine downloaded a few years ago, found it very uneven but then it was a singles comp. so it would be.

I have Garlands lined up for a start anyway.

Edit: Listening to Garlands now, there's a huge Siouxsie influence on her vocals, hadn't expected that. A lot of similarities with the early Dead Can Dance releases too, which was inevitable I suppose. Good stuff anyway.
