Mighty

Edit: More than mighty, this is insanely good. I've only been a casual fan before this but this is seriously good, nor a dud in sight.

You should give 4-track Demos a spin. It contains a lot of the songs that ended up on Rid of Me. They sound fantastic in demo form, some are even better than the album versions.

Nick Cave: Idiot Prayer: Nick Cave Alone At Alexandra Palace
The Cure: Boys Don't Cry

Bog bodies - Reclaim the Ritual

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Let Love In

It's between this and Murder Ballads for my favourite Bad Seed's album.

I've been pondering mine while I'm reading the Cave/O'Hagan book. For years it was Henry's Dream but I find nyself going to The Boatman's Call more and more in recent years. Add Ghosteen and the two you mentioned and that'd be the shortlist.

Though overall I'd go for Live Seeds, their Live After Death in effect

I'd add Push the Sky Away to the top of the pile. I'm usually not a huge fan of their more restrained albums, but they struck gold with that one.

Never listened to Live Seeds. I must give it a spin.

The Pogues - If I Should Fall From Grace With God

Another band I was aware of but had never really sat down and listened to before. I absolutely loved this album. It turned a lazy Monday afternoon off into a drinking afternoon off  The accordion player is absurdly good. Sounds like something from a Frank Zappa band with all those hyper speed rhythms and runs he's doing! And I'm an absolute sucker for someone who isn't a traditionally good singer, but has a ton of charisma and character in their vocal delivery, so Shane MacGowan is right up my alley. The two songs with The Dubliners were great too.

Miles Davis - Live Evil

Another amazing one from his fusion period. A little bit Bitches Brew, a little bit On the Corner, all awesome. With all three of those albums mentioned I love how it's so focused on vibe rather than noodling.

Autechre – Tri Repetae

Great sounds/programming/etc

Autechre can be a bit harsh at times, but this is very accessible

One I often go back to, and what an amazing discography to choose from is 'Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus'.

I never took to that one, though it's been a while since I listened to it in full. That and Dig! Lazarus Dig! passed me by without making an impact either way. I must revisit both.

Another one I like is Dig!, aye give em' a listen ya never know it may click yet.
