Sitting in the car waiting to get my tenth Covid swab listening to 'The Shadowthrone'. Those two first Satyricon albums are BM par excellence.

Two unbelievable albums,The Shadowthrone possibly my favourite BM album.

Listening to Gospel Of The Horns all week -  A Call To Arms
                                                                               Eve Of The Conqueror
                                                                               Realm Of The Damned
A Call To Arms is a motherfucking masterpiece, I'm in danger of getting obsessed with it.

Two unbelievable albums,The Shadowthrone possibly my favourite BM album.

I only picked the reissues up recently. I have loved 'Mother North' since recording it off the Metal Show all those years ago but 'Nemesis Divina' as an album didn't do a lot for me. The rest of it seems to lack that dark mysterious edge, and the couple of later albums I have by them tend to have one or two songs I like with a lot of uninteresting stuff padded all around. Those experiences put me off buying the earlier stuff for a long time despite occasionally listening to them online over the years. I am absolutely hooked on them since buying them, though. Both albums are fucking great. DMT is maybe a little looser and cruder but that's alright by me because the songs are incredible and the atmosphere is perfect for the style.

Satyricon seem to get relegated out of top tier by a lot of BM folk due to Satyr's personality but I couldn't give two hoots about the characters behind the music when it's this damn good.

Orodruin- 'Ruins of Eternity'. Great album.

My predictive text amusingly just gave me 'Runs of Eternity' which sets an entirely different tone  :)

Opeth - Live At Red Rocks
Primordial - Exile Amongst The Ruins
Also been listening to hours of early DM and thrash compilations on YouTube to see if there's anything new to me in there that might jump out. Nothing new so far, but fuckin' great listening!

Schammasch - Contradiction
                           Triangle
                           Hearts of No Light

En Minor, never really listened to anything in this style before, but it's decent enough

Just a few albums that turned 21 years old over the last 24 hours.

Nevermore-Dead Heart
Morbid Angel- Gateways
Malevolent Creation- Envenomed

Nevermore especially ,is a classic.

Yup, Dead Heart is savage. May just throw it on now.

Gateways 21? Jaysus, feeling me bones creaking now.

Rope Sect - The Great Flood. That 'Handsome Youth' single was so, so good, not convinced by this though. Maybe needs time.

I skip between Dead Heart and Enemies of Reality as my favourite but the whole discography is brilliant

Poor auld Jeff is being absolutely wasted these days in Arch Enemy but he's probably getting a nice pay cheque
