Type O Negative- All of them the past few days with some Taake thrown in.

Kreator: Terrible Certainty

Rather overlooked album in their discography, Much better than 'Coma of Souls' on the technical thrash riffage IMO but 'COS' perhaps has bigger sounding production.

It's not easy to follow Pleasure To Kill.
I love it myself, Behind The Mirror is in my top 5 fave Kreator songs.

Septic Flesh - Mystic Places of Dawn
                         Έσοπτρον
                        Ophidian Wheel
                        A Fallen Temple

Bruce Dickinson - Scream for Me Sarajevo

Picked this up thinking it was a recording of the concert, didn't cop its just a compilation. Decent collection of his solo stuff all the same

Jaysus that Esoptron is some album. I played it to death back in 04/05. I used to live with three Greeks on Erasmus, they had a tough time translating the word into English for me, like a mirror that looks back at you or something if I remember correctly.

Six hour car journey so a mix of Suffocation, Mastodon, Krisiun and Torche. The Mrs turn to drive now so I'm banished to headphone land.

Tsjuder-Desert Northern Hell. Pure blasting fury!
Dying Fetus-Descend Into Depravity. This is chock full of riffs. This and Reign Supreme are top shelf

Selbst - Selbst
              Relatos de angustia

Antichrist Siege Machine - Purifying Blade

Nadja - Excision

They are a band who are difficult to keep up with as they are prolific and are fond of a split, and AB doesn't always get it right. When he does though, the music is untouchable. That tune 'Jornada de La Muerte' and especially 'Memory Leak' are incredible.

That 'Thaumogenesis' too, absolutely superb.

Cult Of Luna: Salvation

Thier finest hour IMO, though most prefer prior and subsequent albums. To me, this one flows the most smoothly.

For whatever reason, it went down really well on a midnight bus journey to Galway, and has been my go-to 'post metal' album since. Up there with Through Silver In Blood and Oceanic for me.

Please don't lump 'Through Silver in Blood' in with post metal  :-X :-[ :o

I did throw inverted commas in there TBF, but those 3 albums are of a kind and level for me. The 'post metal' tag is a pile of shite as far as I'm concerned (they're very clearly metal) but as an identifier I'll drop it. If a pigeonhole for that style is required, I'd throw 'ambient metal' at it, as wank as it sounds.

I think post metal is a clear descriptor, I just refuse to place Neurosis in that bracket.

Last night's listening, bit of a year 2000 retro buzz:

Katatonia - Tonight's Decision
Katatonia - Discouraged Ones
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance
Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines

I never really bothered with Nile back in the day, but I've been throwing them on from time to time over the last couple of years. In Their Darkened Shrines especially has some truly awesome metal on it.
