I don't recall meeting one of them... remind me.

Have this on repeat since I came back from work. Absolutely incredible. If atmospheric black metal or Quebécois Independence are high on your list of priorities look no further. Assumed it was a new release but it somehow bypassed me for the past five years.

Savage album, the LP was just recently repressed if you are looking for it:

Thanks for heads up. Toss up between that and CD plus shirt.

Did you not reply "oh ya, the racist lads" or something to that extent when yer man said he played in Forteresse?

I don't remember that but if there was drink involved then anything is possible

Oddly, I even remember where we were when you told the story.

No memory of it, and that might be for the best  :-[

Gehenna- First Spell

Sacafago - The Laws Of Scourge
Testament- The Formation Of Damnation

Dissection  - Storm of the lights bane

Berkutchi - Obscurity, Beneath the Demon's Veil

Bilwis  - Sagenwelt

The last few day or two:

Oranssi Pazuzu - "Värähtelijä"
Masterpiece.  I had listened to this only once before and it didn't stick at the time for whatever reason, revisiting it the last few days, it is unbelievably good.  Dark, hypnotic, loose at the edges.

Opeth - "Ghost Reveries"
Still decent but not a patch on the few previous to it.  Was organising my digital music and saw I had a copy of it, fired it on for the first time in years.  There's some great songs and sections on it but it's the start of a rough patch for them.

Michael Gira - "Drainland"
Was recommend this, having never heard it but loving Swans.  Very good.  Nice and sparse, great atmosphere on it, due another listen to enjoy it properly since the first felt more like figuring out what way he's going at it.

Mamiffer - "Mettapatterning for Constellation"
Very good.  Mostly ambient piece written by Mamiffer but orchestrated by Eyvind Kang.  Two versions of the same thing on the one album, the first being the completed song live, the secomd being the home made notes and parts made to structure the piece out for orchestration.

Black Flux - Black Stream

I love the OP releases either side of Varahtelija but never gave that as much time which I must remedy. Incredible band.

I was only really familiar with Valonielu, which I enjoyed, and other than the cursory listen to Varahtelija never went for them again until their album last year.  But that was so completely class that it made me go back through them again.  They are unreal.
