If there was one punk band I'd recommend to fans of death and black metal its RP. Their backstory, their aesthetic, the sheer dementedness of them..Nik Blinko was the Timo Ketola of punk in his day.

For those unfamiliar, here's a taste:

That track sounds a bit more mental than what's on 'Death Church'

Will give a listen

Sinner Rage: Powerstrike  (2025)

Trad metal / NWOBHM from North Spain, recommended.

Currently listening to Queens of the Stoneage play around the corner from my flat. Saved myself 50 quid, got to hear "Regular John" while I was doing the washing up. Happy days.

Trepaneringsritualen- The Totality of Death (o)

Type O Negative: October Rust

Just getting it in before midnight on its 29th anniversary.

Mütiilation - black millenium

I never got in to the LLN bands. Whatever I heard years back was too noisy and raw for my tastes at the time. This album from 2001 might not be considered part of that early French scene? In any case it's easily accessible and contains some absolute black metal gold. Particularly the last two songs. I only got it recently and I'm sickened I skipped on the band for years.17557277912896653317924039883970.jpg

Early Mutiilation is great. Bleak as fuck black metal that's similar to Veles at their rawest. I'd recommend Remains of a Ruined, Dead, Cursed Soul as a starting point.
