Chuffed to see Invictus stocking some reissues of this old and often overlooked gloomy yet brutish DM masterpiece. The old tape trade copy I have had Lost Paradise on the other side and there could hardly be better bedfellows. This though, is the better album.
Great job from Osmose here with the liner notes, interview and photos that could only have come from those darkened days of yore.

Mortual - Altar Of Brutality (2025) 8.5/10
Eight years from first demo to first album and it shows in all the right ways for Costa Rica's Mortual. This shit is honed and crafted and tighter than a nun's chuff, punishing and pummelling like the very best Deicide or Monstrosity. Death Metal debut of the year? It's got to be in the running.

Primordial- Where Greater Men Have Fallen (2014) 8/10
A little more melancholy and circumspection , a little less rabble rousing from our boys here, more fireside than festival and that's more than fine with me.

Venom - From The Very Depths (2015) 7.5/10
Eleven years since this last full Venom album, a slew of boxsets, singles and EP's since then. In fairness this wasn't bad at all, padded out sure but no lack of those obnoxious romper stompers that Cronos loves to spit his, eh, venom, all over.

Drawn And Quartered - Lord Of Two Horns (2025) 7/10
Another vinyl pick up from Invictus, the new one from these Seattle based veterans is savage, no frills Death Metal, eight tracks, 34 minutes, job done. Oft times that's all that's required.

Cripper - Hyena (2014) 6/10
Modern 90's style thrash from the now defunct Germans, comes across like Death Angel or Exodus meets Arch Enemy with those aggressive female vocals. I don't mind the odd spin of this at all, strictly second division though. And that's only in Germany.

Really? I never would have thought it was an AI cover, it's credited as a Marcelo Almeida illustration, either way I like it. I haven't heard the EP .
