Immortal - Pure Holocaust 10/10
The Norsemen's second album from 1993 is, to this day, utterly essential Black Metal.

Trouble - Psalm 9 10/10
And some utterly essential 'White Metal'. Of course that tag was more down to Brian Slagel and Metal Blade than the band themselves but hey, your loss of you let the devil keep you away from this juggernaut of doomed out Heavy Metal. Admittedly I steered clear myself until Confessor sent me treading tentatively towards the light with their rather spiffing cover of Endtime.

Grave Infestation - Carnage Gathers 8.5/10
Playing the unmerciful fuck out of this since it landed from Invictus and it's surely booked a spot in my 20 favourites of the year already, that Murder Spree track alone could have come straight off Leprosy. Saying all that I'm still not sure if I don't still slightly prefer the more unhinged Autopseyness of the debut. Killer band  :abbath:

Therion - Leviathan III 7.5/10
It's testament to the songwriting prowess of Christofer Johnsson that I've managed to stay aboard the good ship Therion thus far despite all the bombast and operatics that really should have had me taking a running jump yonks ago. This latest wraps up the largely successful Leviathan trilogy and what a body of work it's been. Mind you I don't think I'll ever be going all three in one session.

Isole - Throne Of Void 7/10
Second album from the melancholic Italians who may be harshly, if not wholly inaccurately, described as a poor mans Candlemass. More of a gentle, lulling sea of sombre Trad Doom than anything overly tempestuous. Very decent though.

Pyre - Where Obscurity Sways 7/10
Fed up waiting for that new Dismember album? These Russians have a pretty good crack at filling that void, bit of Asphyx here, bit of Morbid Angel there and a vocalist who's a dead ringer tonally for Matti Karki. No evolution, no progress, this could come straight from the early 90s DM scene. The title, though, must have got lost in translation.

Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

Portal - Vexovoid
Negura Bunget - 'n crugu bradului
Chat Pile - Cool World
Havukruunu - Tavastland
Avmakt - Satanic Inversion of....
Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere
Forgotten Woods - Baklengs mot stupet
Drowned - Procul His

Necromaniac- whatchyemacallit.
Type O Negative- October Rust.

 That's pretty much what I've been calling the Necromaniac too.

Can't be fucked remembering that title.

Forsaken - Dominaeon
Necrophobic - Darkside
Iron Maiden - No Prayer for the Dying
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son

Faith No More - Sol Invictus. I still dig this. I think the only track I find out of place/too Patton-solo stuff is that "motherfucker" track. Reminds me too much of the Peeping Tom album maybe..? But apart from that, solid album imo.

Opeth - In Cauda Venenum

The Rods: Heavier Than Thou (1986 CD)

Not seen many on here comment on this band, cool 80s hard rock/metal release. Looking into the rest of the back catalogue.

was listening to Witherfalls latest from last year til the sun came out..
Anthrax discography on the boombox now - bar the shite with that Bush gimp butchering

Sound of White Noise and We've Come for You All are great albums. And Greater of Two Evils compared where they re-recorded Joey tracks with Bush.
The rest are meh! To be fair.

Love Armored Saint, though. Even the later albums

Looking forward to the new Sijjin album coming out at the end of the month, loved the last one and the EP before it.
I've seen a few online complaining about the production on this, but I think it sounds great.
Everything is clear as a bell, and they don't go overboard with the gain on the guitars like a lot of bands in a similar vein.

If you haven't checked this band out before and you like Morbid Angel, Possessed, Slayer etc... give them a listen!!!

Caught them in Limerick a while ago. They were deadly. Picked up the album and EP, too.
Will definitely check the new one out.

Enjoyed them in Limerick but they generally do very little for me and wasn't into that tune at all. Even less than the other stuff.
