Total sidebar here but I see Neuropa have a black metal band on their roster with the incredibly sinister name "Lace Shawl". I guffawed. Looking forward to their split with Monogrammed Hankerchief.

Been listening to the new Diamanda Galas and old Nomeansno all day today. Highly recommend both.

I didn't check out any of their other releases. Twelve euro to ship a cassette from Belgium means I may never explore the black metal masterpieces of Lace Shawl.

The Lace Shawl demo is great. Frilly Knickers has such a cold early Burzum feel and Ankle Sock in the Laundry Bin of Humanity recalls the Strid 7" to me. Recommended.

In the middle of a Dismember and Carnage binge. Always fun.

I actually listened to Lace Shawl after all this joking and eh..yeah..its certainly very frilly.

It's Danzig season. 4 on now.

Since everyone's making the comparison, while waiting for The Pact I'm going to reacquaint myself with Coven this morning... even though it requires getting out of my chair 6 times.

I might give it a spin. Frilly sounds good to me  8)  8)

Tea-Stained Doily.

King Diamond  :abbath:  mostly for the past few weeks. I could never tolerate the vocals much but something seems to have clicked lately. The Eye, Conspiracy, Fatal Portrait, Abigail - all excellent (especially The Eye).  "THEM" i cant get into, the story/plot is just too daft (tea, grandma etc - its too much to take!)

Today - Megadeth's new one & it sounds great!

Stuck on Slomatics' Canyons earlier after not playing it for a while. Jaysus, such a class album.

Up early with a cup of tea and The Pact playing while reading along to the lyrics. This is the way to fully enjoy this album I think. Here's hoping the rest of the family stay in bed until I get to the end  8)

Mooncitadel- Night's Scarlet Symphonies. I haven't given this album as much attention over the past couple of years as I probably should have. I think it's the mastering that puts me off a little bit. It's so loud it's hard going on the earballs. I need to get back to it now and give it some love.

I picked up a can of Dopesmoker WCIPA and for some inexplicable reason it made me think of Sleep. Not a band that ever clicked with me but I decided it's a good excuse to dig the Dopesmoker DLP off the shelf for a long overdue revisit. I looked. I looked again more thoroughly... nope, it ain't there! I must have traded it or given it away at some stage so whoever ended up with my copy give it a spin in my honour while I find something better to listen to  8)

Never heard this before and it sounds unreal. Listening to it with headphones on sounds like hearing the album for the first time again.
