I agree with you about the album being a bit meh, but I'd say Gothic is the big yin.

Their best IMO.

The first 4 are a serious run, on par with the big hitters of the day.

Barkmarket - L Ron. Excellent.
Barkmarket - Vegas Throat. Only halfway through this but it's about the same excellent so far. Reminds me of something but I haven't put the finger on it yet.

L'Éclat du Déclin - Pale Écho de ce que Nous Fûmes

Menhir         Hildebrandslied
Melechesh   Djinn
                    Sphynx
                    Emissaries
                   The Epigenesis

One of the best albums I've ever heard.

I threw this on yesterday to see what was the craic with it and for some reason I didn't expect it to be BM (likely the album name and cover) but could vaguely remember it being mentioned on the old site. Anyway only got halfway through because I had to go but I must come back to it today it sounded decent.

Gin is fantastic.
I remember a friend gave it to me and I put it on thinking I'd listen whist doing a few bits and pieces.
I had to stop and sit down and listen, it's almost hypnotic.

That's my favourite way to check out new stuff these days, and the class bits just jump out. Had a fair few like that where I just had to stop what I was doing and zone in to the tunes

Furis Ignis - Decapitate the Aging World
Úvanimor  - Somnium Luciferum

Joyless- Unlimited Hate. First time listening to these lads- an offshoot of Forgotten Woods. This album is savage. Sounds to me like early Burzum meets early Sigh  8)

Sounds interesting. They have a split with Urfaust I think.

Cobalt- Eater of Birds is deadly, as is War Metal. Never gave as much time to Gin but it's always been highly regarded.

Cobalt - Gin

Although I didn't know I was in the market for the BM-tinged follow up to Tool's classic Lateralus, I appear to have found it.

Well that or it sounds like latter day Enslaved are after leaving a pup in a Tool album, either way it's really good tack

Satan - Life Sentence

and on next, new arrivals from postman Pierre:
Oranssi Pazuzu - Värähtelijä
Kairon; IRSE! - Polysomn

Top Class Oranssi Pazuzu album that.  Didn't get my head around it at first but like them all, it has hooks that surprisingly drag you back after a while.  Found other albums by them a bit more immediate (but all great).

Tried that Polysomn some time back and it was enjoyable but I never revisited.  Must make some time for it again soon.

Have a backlog of albums to catch up written down at home but I've been pestered busy lately, and for various reasons have only had tunes on in the car.  Aside from Chat Pile's album, which is still on the go regularly, I've had Cop Shoot Cop - "White Noise" on.  I'm more familiar with a different album by them (Ask Questions Later) but the revisit on this was timely, it is so seriously class.  Noise Rock / Industrial madness.  Reminds me quite a lot atmospherically of Killing Joke's "Extremities..." too.
