Sunny O)))- Monoliths and Dimensions. I find myself in the mood for these lads lately. Long time since I've listened to them.

Fall of the Idols - Contradictory Notes
Ereb Altor - Gastrike
Worm - Necropalace (absolutely love this)
Sacral Rage - Illusions in Infinite Void
Doomsword - The Eternal Battle

First time I played that the dog ran and hid. Great album indeed.

Oppressor - Agony 8.5/10
Second full length from 1996, brutal technical Death Metal in the vein of Suffocation/Gorguts, bit of Pestilence..Never knew this band back in the day so kudos to Hammerheart for bringing them to light again.

Ravenspell - Obsidian King 8/10
Fresh out on Fighter Records, debut from these Canadians is hugely impressive and engaging from the get-go, if you don't dig this you probably aren't into Heavy Metal.

Wildhunt - Aletheia 8/10
The Austrians have really hit a winning formula on their second album released earlier this year, Trad Metal with Prog flourishes, Manilla Road and Slough Feg fans welcome here.

Bathory - Requiem 8/10
Quorthon gets his savage South American thrash on and goes on the rampage
after spending the previous two records stuck on the longboat.

Zatyr - Ornament of Proposition 7/10
Daft title aside this was an enjoyable 20 odd minutes of dark, ominous Heavy Metal from Gothenburg in 2019, never did pick up the subsequent full length though.

Tokyo Blade - Tokyo Blade 7/10
Solid '83 NWOBHM debut from the Blade though after Sunrise In Tokyo it's sundown for me, can't have me no Blue Mountains Of Virginia, no Siree.

Just listening to the Ravenspell album, it's class!

HIM - Greatest Love Songs

Ya fuckit, still great.

I completely ignored it for years. I enjoyed Sunn O))) live on the couple of occasions I caught them but never much bothered with them on CD. The new songs they've posted have sounded good to me so I lobbed Monoliths on out of curiosity. I love Atilla's vocals and the orchestral quality of the noise that's going on behind the riffs in some of these songs. Kind of not a million miles away from the new Qrixkuor in effect.

Riot - Fire Down under

I've had this one for years and go back to it every so often as I always hear people laud it as some sort of masterpiece but I still find it so so dull and uninteresting bar a few moments here and there.

Giving it a go now

Opening 2 tracks are great  :abbath:

Not masterpiece material, but still rockin'

Give Thundersteel or give death!!!

I turned it off

Fist 3 songs are great

4th track is more an AOR song

Next song is a bit weak

Then it just seems to lose conviction/focus, swaying too much stylistically

Then one of those sad acoustic intros to a song ... that was me done!

Not sure of the singer either. He started to annoy me
