Adramelech - Psychostasia
Demilich - Nespithe

Guess I was on a finnish buzz. If any of you fine folks know anything that scratches the same itch as demilich id appreciate a recommendation! Adore nespithe but dont know of anything with the same brand of weirdness.

Infester are my go-to band when I'm in the mood for weird, fucked up death metal. To the Depths, in Degradation is a masterpiece.

Thank you kindly, blasting this into my skull rn.
Seems weird alright, I can see some parity when the guitars diverge into meandering harmonies. Otherwise, this seems like a beast entirely of its own. Thanks, gonna soak this in!

Kreator- Outcast

Never gave this a chance before, bit dull but dont think it's anywhere as bad as its reputation

Sound man thank you, been slogging through a heap of data at work and tunes are the only thing keeping me sane!

Closest thing I knew about before all these recommendations is chtheilist, but thats a fair bit more grandiose sounding.

Meshuggah - Obzen (this turned 18 years last week, Sheesh).

Imperial Triumphant - Goldstar, Spirit of Ecstasy, Alphaville (which happens to have a banging cover of Voivod's "Experiment", and The Residents' "Happy Home" as bonus tracks).

Quote from: ochoill on March 13, 2026, 09:24:42 AMBeen in hiding from the internet for most of the week, haven't listened to much either, needed to turn the mind off.  But what was on:

Jesu - "Silver"
Can't ever get enough Jesu really.  Always great.

Killing Joke - "MMXII"
I absolutely lived in this album for about two years after it came out then just didn't put it on properly again.  Had it on the other night and it is still completely class.  Savage songs, pure KJ, big clanking unique riffs.  It's in regulation rotation again now.

Uncultivates - "This Will Become Clear Later, Like The French Revolution"
Cowboy Hardcore.  Great sport.  Vicious songs, straight into it.

Masters of Reality - "The Archer"
Totally class, didn't realise they released this last year until I stumbled across it last week or so.  Have listened to it to death since.  Just lush, laid back, catchy, solid music.
Was on a Masters of Reality buzz about a month ago. Played them all except for the first one (played the living bollix out of it since release, a true 10/10 album mind) and noticed The Archer was released last year. You're right, your description is perfect for the album.
Gonna throw it on again later...

Fun fact: They took the name for the band from a misprinted label of the third Black Sabbath album, Master of Reality.

Bathory - Blood On Ice 9/10
Quorthon gets back on track after two underwhelming (at best) efforts, once again the acoustics, the narration ,the choirs were all out in full force while also showcasing a glorious stomper like Gods of Thunder Of Wind and Of Rain.

Dream Theater - Dream Theater 7.5/10
Probably one of DT's more accessible outings with it's focus on generally shorter structured songs. As a self-titled? Maybe not so representative as others.

Acrimony - Tumuli Shroomaroom 7.5/10
Very few albums in this genre on my shelves but as far as stoner rock goes this 1997 opus from the Swansea lads is as good as any I've heard.

Cadaver - Hallucinating Anxiety 6.5/10
Always a bit of an anomaly for me this, muddy, grimy Norwegian Death Metal that came out just before the rise of Black Metal , crude and unpolished but give me Goatlord any day.

Slough Feg - New Organon 6/10
Last full length from Feg, their jaunty Jethro Tull leanings were a bit too prevalent here for me.

Megadeth - Megadeth 5/10
Low expectations duely met, ironic that after Tipping Point it all just falls flat and predictably safe but we'll always have the classics. So long Vic. So very long.

Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

In the last few days it's been a fair bit of:

Beherit - Drawing Down the Moon
Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
Bloody Vengeance - Ruido de guerra
Caveman Cult - Decade of Devolution
Swallowed - Lunarterial
Sijjin - Angel of the Eastern Gate
Misotheist - De Pinte

I'd take 90's Kreator over post 90's Kreator any day. The misguided wandering is far more palatable than the forced thrash.

I have that on vinyl. The version with the band on the front playing live.
Great aul album, think I'll throw it on now.
Woof, just checked, it's pulling decent money on Discogs  ;D

I'm assuming you mean the Seducer album... I only have it in CD, was reissued in the last few years.  Decent listen!

Hallas - Panorama
Leatherhead - Violent Horror Stories (so many catchy riffs)
Rotting Christ - Triarchy of Lost Lovers
Sepultura - Arise

Never knew that, always assumed it was just a direct reference to the album!  Class band anyway, haven't heard an album I didn't like.

Jesus is Obzen really 18, fuckin hell, I remember getting a leak of it before release and making point of listening to it first with a good friend of mine in the middle of the day without knowing a note of it, in a student house in Milford Grange.  A memory that will live with me forever.  Desperately stoned and actually in stitches laughing at Bleed it was so ridiculous at the time.  I am putting it on today.

Sorry yes Seducer, I thought I highlighted it in bold.
Great wee album with cracking songs. Pity the production wasn't up to scratch, or more specifically, the engineering.

Listened to toughness last night n again this morning. Spot on recommendation! Refreshing to hear the bass so prominent in the mix. Love when the bass is leading the charge on this album, very cool.
