DSO - Infernal Battles
DSO - Inquisitors of Satan
DSO - Manifestations 2002

Cool and solid slabs of oldschool black metal. I think they get progressively better as they go on, with manifestations 2002 being the best of what I listened to today. Sadly the quality on the latter half of infernal battles isn't for me, didnt finish it because of that. Would I reach for these over the later releases? Probably not.

Stuck on the long defeat just now, lets see can I listen to the whole thing without getting bored and switching to one of their better albums

I've never listened to Manifestations. Is that Shaxul era?

I'll throw on Inquisitors over the weekend and see how it compares with Infernal Battles.

Nothing wrong with the demo stuff as it sounds if it is being released/reissued as a demo. But tacking it on to 4 other songs that are produced completely differently... what was the thinking there I wonder. Was this their The Oath Of Black Blood?!

Ya its Shaxul. Very much in line with their earlier sound.

Ah yeah, if someone is into hearing old rehearsal tapes the latter half of infernal battles might be for them. Just not to my own taste, and certainly not what Im after when I stick on DSO. I do like rough n ready recordings, but thats a bit too unrefined for my current mood.

I did not make it through all of the long defeat, switched over to furnaces about half way

Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
Cynic - Focus
Watchtower - Control and Resistance

I get so much joy every listen of these I sometimes wonder why I bother my hole listening to other music

Recent pickups:

Hammerfall: Glory to the Brave
Hammerfall: Legacy Of Kings
Hammerfall: Renegade

of those three CDS, think I prefer 'Legacy..' for the time being.

Destiny's End: Breathe Deep The Dark   :abbath:

UP and Focus are perfect albums. I listened to them back to back recently and then threw on Filosofem. Pure bliss.

I've never heard Watchtower. I need to remedy that.
