Two of my all-time favourite albums, followed by one that helped get me into music (and would occupy my top twenty for sure).

It has been a good day   :abbath:

Abigail - The Final Damnation

Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Iron Maiden - Somewhere in Time
Raven - Can't Take Away The Fire
Hexecuter - ...Where Spirit Withers In Its Flesh Constraints

Have the new Warbringer - Wrath and Ruin.

Also Witchcraft - Legend and Sorcerer - In the Shadow of the inverted cross, on heavy rotation.

Motorpsycho - Motorpsycho

Heathen- Bleeding The World (Live) 8/10
First impressions weren't good. Uninspiring cover art, a nothing booklet and a paltry nine tracks, FIVE from the latest album, (taken from different U.S. shows) for a live document?
Clearly Nuclear Blast are more interested in selling tat to teenagers than making any sort of effort with releases like this these days. The band are on top form though and soon turned the frown upside down with their old school second tier thrash belted out with an infectious enthusiasm that's hard to resist.

Atrophy - Socialized Hate 7.5/10
Having a new Heathen release to spin soon put me in mind of another band sat somewhere next to them midway down the Great American Thrash Pyramid, Arizona's Atrophy. Their debut from '88 wasn't my jumping on point though so preference is still slightly for Violent By Nature.

Cradle Of Filth - The Screaming Of The Valkyries 7/10
Loathe or love, and I veer more towards the latter, you've got to at least begrudgingly hand it to Dani and his assorted troupe of degenerates for plugging away in the face of ever diminishing returns. Also, the guy is still one of Metal's best lyricists, shoot me, but the fact remains. Safe to say there's nothing here to over excite but plenty to satisfy long time fans.

Sanhedrin - Heat Lightning 7/10
New one from the New York three piece who pedal a pleasing derivation of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. It's pretty hard to go wrong when you've got a vocalist who's a dead ringer for Ann Wilson and this is an enjoyable, life affirming 45 mins that may well provide the soundtrack to Summer if you're looking for one.

Unbounded Terror - Something Is Rotten In Humanity 6/10
Something rotten in the Death Metal hotbed of Mallorca anyway. Picked up this new one from the Spanish oldies on cassette from Xtreem Records and a solid slab of OSDM it is. Always hard to resist a Death Metal album with a purple cover so this one sold itself!

Vacuous - In His Blood 6/10
New one from the London based quintet who seem to have taken the mantle of being a Relapse band to heart with this release moving away from traditional Death Metal tropes and getting all adventurous on our asses. An eyebrow raising listen but I'm not entirely sold. Yet.
