Putrid Offal - Obliterated Life

New one from le French deathgrinders. On first listen it's not quite as good as Sickness Obsessions, but it's still massive. No Gregorian chants in this album, but there are a few unexpected moments that keep things interesting.

Edit: There is actually some Gregorian chanting in Messy Flesh. 😁

Fuck this is an absolute through and through fist banger, too good! This vinyl press sounds class. SWORN TO AVENGE!!!

I feel like growing up I used to see loads of older metallers with Desaster shirts, patches etc and would hear about them discussed quite a bit but don't really hear anything about them anymore. Was it a time and place thing or were they particularly popular with the Irish crowd?

Thinking back, I don't remember them getting as much love or discussion on forums outside of Metal Ireland.  Maybe it was an Irish thing.  Touch of Medieval Darkness is probably one of my favourite albums of all times.

High Command - Eclipse of the Dual Moons
Necromaniac - Scionmancy Malediction & Rites Abominable
Ereb Altor - Halsingemorker
Metallica - Justice for All
Freeways - Dark Sky Sanctuary
Benediction - Ravage of Empires

Desaster are deadly alright. 20 years since they played Day of Darkness, and there was some buzz in the lead up to that double header line-up alright, them and Rotting Christ.

I never got into them. They seemed a bit generic to me, but maybe I need to check out the early stuff, which is usually the best when it comes to black metal bands.

The only Desaster stuff I really rate is the Okkulto stuff and he left after the third album. After that it was by numbers stuff. Tyrants is my favourite by far, a total ripper. The debut is great too.

Also one for the pet peeves but the fact only their bass player wears corpse paint always annoyed me, looks so out of place and retarded.

Ha, I know exactly what you mean about the later, Sataniac era, albums being "by numbers stuff" (perhaps even most notably the vocals themselves), but since Divine Blasphemies was the first one of theirs I heard, I don't mind it and personally listen to it as often as the first three.

I'll check out the early ones and see.

Divine Blasphemies was the only album I had by them!.Good stuff but a  band I never really had any Interest in overall.

I was at that DOD with Rotting Christ, can't remember much about it now tbh!

A Touch of Medieval Darkness on now. Not bad. I dig the artwork.

Picked up Countdown To Extinction in the charity shop for a quid today. Never listened to it at all but it's actually decent, have it on here now in the car.

I hear fun things about the remasters of megadeth but this cd is from 92 so I think I'm safe

Yeah that megadeth was actually surprisingly decent. I didn't expect to like it.

Back to the new Chat Pile now. Honestly haven't had this much mileage from anything in years. Just can't get sick of it at all. Thinking Nirvana and NIN level of mileage here

Just had Rust in Peace on actually, managed to pick up that og mix on LP a few weeks back. Countdown and Youthanasia are both great too, I'd love to get them but Megadeth's back catalogue seems a bit of a shambles when it comes to keeping stuff available.

Followed it up with Beyond the Crimson Horizon by Solitude Aeternus  :abbath:.
