Mastodon - Hushed & Grim

Wasn't really too pushed on this when it came out so figured it was worth a revisit. Enjoying it more, but I find most double albums have the material for one really great album, and the rest is a bit unnecessary, and that's the same here. A few too many songs that are just Mastodon by numbers

Currently just flat out on "Forest of Equilibrium"

Hadn't listened to Forest of Equilibrium in years but have had it on a few times recently.  Deadly album.

Nuclear Assault - Game Over
Mefitis - The Skorian // The Greyleer
Obscura - Omnivium
Cathedral - Forest of Equilibrium

Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness (a beast)

Yeah it's weird that a load of the Hardcore package tour bands rarely play here. Always France and Germany.

The last time I saw them here was in January as I remember I had one repeat college exam from semester one the day of the show which I think was 2011. I was going through my tickets a while ago and saw one for another Terror show the year before which must have been 2010 but I don't remember them playing shows here that close together nor do I remember anything about the 2010 show usually I have a great memory.

Listening to Ulver's newest album here for the first time, Liminal Animals. Confirming me in my impression that a couple of tracks off the new Tribulation are like modern Ulver... but better

Kat- 666.
Master's Hammer- Ritual.

Dodsferd - Spitting With Hatred The Insignificance of Life
Tankard - Chemical Invasion
Moonlight Sorcery - Horned Lord of the Thorned Castle
Argus - Beyond the Martyrs
Ensiferum - Victory Songs

two very different albums to start the day:

Lifeless Dark - Forces of Nature's Transformation (best band to do the Sacrilege/early BT crust thing in years -this seems to have dropped out of nowhere overnight onto Spotify/Youtube only, can't find any evidence anywhere so far of a physical release..possibly the greatest "fuck you" to the DIY punk scene possible  )
It Bites - Big Lad In The Windmill (an all time favourite since childhood.."Wanna shout" is a banger)

also: Barnaveiki ep - new death metal from Svartidaudi/Mysthriming people. Nothing you haven't heard before but the last track is great

Fuck the Facts - Die Miserable
Fuck the Facts - Pleine Noirceur

Vigilance - Hammer of Satan's Venegence
Blazon Rites - Endless Halls of Golden Totem
Dark Forest - Oak, Ash & Thorn
Spite - The Third Temple
Penance - The Road Revisited
Tribulation - Sub Rosa In Aeternum

Going down the Zeuhl rabbit hole this morning:
Offering - s/t
Magma - Atahk

How could you not love this shit. Frantic alien jazz prog sung in a made up language by a man who alternates between sounding like a Martian Bryan Ferry and Gizmo out of Gremlins

Lining up some Art Zoyd and Univers Zero for later..

I bought the CD of this year's ago, only listened a few times, couldn't get in to it.  Must get it out again for another go.
Alpha & Omega is my favourite from Penance

Black Sabbath:Tyr.

How someone hasn't used songs from this for an action movie is a tragedy.

It's full of cheesy montage bits!😂

THE HIGHWAY'S SCREAMING,
CALLING OUT YOUR NAME!!!!
'CAUSE EVERY ROAD THAT YOU TRAVEL ON,
THERE'S A PRICE TO PAY!!!!

Tom Cruise jumping from the back of a galloping horse onto a moving motorbike and doing a triple axl over an exploding helicopter.
