Magma - Üdü Ẁüdü

Perfect album to put on in the morning if you want to pretend you live on some other planet!

Life of Agony- River Runs Red. Predictive text gave me Rubber Runs Red which is another kind if disaster...

Tankard - Stone Cold Sober
Moonlight Sorcery - Horned Lord of the Thrones Castle
Angel Witch - Angel of Light
Judas Priest - Sin After Sin
Marduk - Wormwood
Primordial - Storm Before Calm

Raw black metal from Germany. Forgot to include this in my 5 albums of the year list.

Ooh I completely forgot about a new Nimbifer - just found I had it earmakred on bandcamp when it was announced originally, d'oh. Will have to check that out, thanks.

Great album. They also did a four-way split with Sørgelig, Akantha, and Hajduk called Ruins of Humanity which is very good as well.

NP Strid - End of Life
Strid - Strid
Watain - Rabid Death's Curse
Watain - Casus Luciferi

Chat Pile - This Dungeon Earth
          - Remove Your Skin Please
          - God's Country

Just a bit of a palate cleanser before I go off headbanging to the new one again.

God I've missed Nu Metal more than I realise..

1349  - The Wolf And The King 7/10
Not a band that are likely to 'develop' or surprise at this point but that's fine by me and this is another offering of straightforward old school Norwegian Black Metal with a strong empathis on catchy songwriting.

Master - Saints Dispelled 7/10
Back to their shorter, more punchy song lengths after last time out, Speckmann and his boys did good here, one of their best in a good while. Still pissed I got two tracks less on the cassette though and there's no lack of free space on it.  >:(

Vulture -Sentinels 8/10
Going from strength to strength, album to album Vulture are fucking  pumped on this record and it sounds gloriously old school and neck breaking.

Vircolac - Veneration 7/10
A lot of time on the stereo for this one this year including right now, a writhing ,uncoiling serpent of a record that also embodies that distinctly earthy, Irish aura we know so well around here.
Wearing jeans and leather, not crackerjack clothes

The Cure- Schlongs of a Lost World.
Life of Agony- Rubber Runs Red.

If Slayer ever write a song about condoms.

Tankard - The Meaning of Life
Lake of Tears - Headstones
Lake of Tears - A Crimson Cosmos
Portrait - Crimen Laesae Majestatis Divine

DEMOLITION HAMMER - Epidemic Of Violence
SACRED REICH - Ignorance
DEVASTATION - Signs Of Life
APOCALYPSE - Apocalypse
POSSESSED - Beyond The Gates

I just revisited the Cradle of Filth demos this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed them after ignoring them for years. Far more enjoyable than their Black Metal stuff.

The demos and the debut are where it's at IMO.

Obscura - A Valediction
Bewitched - Dragonflight (today's random pick.  Chilean Heavy Metal from the 90s- named after the Candlemass song but they definitely listened to a lot of Mercyful Fate as well.  Not the greatest but I bought it thinking it was the Swedish Bewitched, whom I quite liked at the time of purchased).
Portrait - Crimen Laesae Majestatis Divinae
Savatage - The Wake of Magellan

Mutiilation - Remains of a Ruined, Dead, Cursed Soul
Antaeus - Blood Libels

Mutiilation are hard to beat when you're in the mood for weird lo-fi black metal. Xasthur sounds like Meat Loaf in comparison to this warped bastard of an album.

I can't figure out why Antaeus don't get the same kind of acclaim that the likes of Funeral Mist do. They have made some absolutely ferocious albums. Blood Libels may be their best.
