Original versions obviously, minus the covers.

I still haven't heard the remix/master of Peace Sells. I heard the one for 'Countdown...' and it was so abysmal I decided I would avoid it like the plague. No way Dave is ruining his best album for me. I have no interest in hearing any of the others either. I do like the more recent version of 'Killing Is My Business' mind you. That was pretty decent.

I've always hated KIMB, so never bothered with the reissue. The only ones I've heard (and made the mistake of buying) are Peace Sells, SFSGSW and RIP and they're just awful. MegaDave's ego running wild.

There was a reissue of Peace Sells in 2011, a remaster of the original album, that I'd like to pick up alright.

NP:
Gaerea: Coma
Blood Incantation: Absolute Elsewhere
Oldd Wvrms: Abysséphale

Dephosphorus - Ravenous Solemnity

More from '24..

Void Witch - Horripilating Presence 7/10
Debut full length from the Texans, death-doom in the vein of Hooded Menace,

Skeletal Remains - Fragments Of The Ageless 7/10
Never going to be one of the best twenty albums of the year for me but this was a serious, albeit over produced, slice of American Death Metal that helped fill a gaping Morbid Angel sized hole somewhat. Punishing stuff.

Spectral Voice - Sparagmos 7.5/10
Literally one of the albums of the year for me as it was picked up way back in February and I suspected then it would be still hanging around the stereo in December not least because it makes a great antidote to the upcoming onslaught of manufactured xmas cheer.
Three of the Blood Incantation boys doing time here.

Hellbutcher - s/t 7.5/10
Where one half of the Nifelheim brothers struck out on his own to tap into those latent Pink Floyd leanings . Ahem. Killer black thrash...of course.

Drowned - Pocul His 7/10
Hmm,..I thought I'd be holding this one in higher regard having listened to it a lot this year but it's slipping out of contention now.

Horna - Nyx (Hymneja Yolle)  8/10
Maybe the best old school black metal of the year with Spellgoth spitting poison over a slew of icy cold riffs throughout. A very worthy  :abbath: .

Sovereign - Altered Reality 9/10
One of the year's best and definitely up there with the Blood Incantation for me, Pestilence/old Sepultura progressive thrash, highly recommended.

Nile - The Underworld Awaits Us All 7/10
Early enjoyment of this has tailed off a bit as some odd riff choices reveal themselves and maybe a little Nile wariness sets in.

Cloven Hoof - Heathen Cross 7/10
Arguably their best album to date, definitely their best vocalist to date as Harry The Tyrant Conklin takes over the reins, this was a strong British Heavy Metal outing marred only by 'Darkest Before The Dawn' being a blatant rewrite of 'Only The Good Die Young'. I mean, c'mon lads, there must at least have been some sheepish looks exchanged across that rehearsal room floor..

Blitzkrieg - s/t 8.5/10
Brian Ross on vocal duties here for these NWOBHM stalwarts and personally I prefer this over the latest from his day job in Satan. Quality, streetwise  Heavy Metal with Ross putting in a stellar ,at times, like on the final track, breathtaking performance .

Spite - The Third Temple
Lake of Tears - A Crimson Cosmos
Voltz - Knights Fall

Sacrifice- Forward to Termination
Haven't listened to this since I was about 12!

My Dying Bride - A Mortal Binding 7/10
Good album from The Bride though it does lose me in places, if nothing else it'll 'go down' as having the most erotic opening line of the year    :o

Vemod - The Deepening 7/10
I never heard the debut (12 years ago!) so this was a blind buy largely based I think on something Pentagrimes said on here, very much something I need to be in the mood for and prepared to give it full attention, would have preferred a bit more of the the harsh stuff and less of the posty, gazey stuff but a very decent album indeed . Relaxing, bubblebath Metal anyone?

Loudblast - Altering Fates and Destinies 6/10
Always happy to pick up a new Loudblast without ever expecting anything to bother end of year lists. That's not a bad thing I think, ye need the foot soldiers.

Skelethal - Within Corrosive Continuums 8/10
This one is interesting me a lot this past month or so since I bought it,the French Death Metallers have definitely hit on a bit of a sound of their own here and those leads were always gonna suck me in. Good shit. Cool cover too.

Paysage d'Hiver - Die Berge

Tough to take it all in in one sitting, as it stands at almost 1h 45 in length. And as is the way with double CD albums, disc 2 tends to get played less. But it's bloody quality stuff.

Einherjer - Norwegian Native Art
Hardraw - Abyss of Mankind
Radigost - Nocturne

Obituary:The End Complete
Ministry:Rare Trax
Bad Brains :I Against I

Razor - Evil Invaders
10/10
