Gigs and Festivals / Re: Damnation 2025

If I recall correctly Stampin Ground played Fredz in Cork either 99 or 2000. I was at it after a long bus down from Ros with Nerdlinger and a few other local punks. It was called Fuck Witness as I think it was on the same weekend as a Guinness sponsored event at Slane or whatever that the whole country was going to. It was a good laugh but it's probably the last time I listened to Stampin Ground

Debut album out. I haven't listened to it yet but I enjoy the demo a lot.

That Entombed photo is one of the all time iconic metal shots. Agreed that Morbid Angel had some sensational early photos as well. Attitude oozing out of the image.

Blasphemy is another famous one for these threads, but I'm getting annoyed tapping on this fuck of thing so look them up yourselves. I'm away out for a smoke.

Another good one from that album that hasn't had the same meme impact, or whatever you call that.

Quote from: Circlepit on October 22, 2025, 09:37:46 PMThat Immortal one always make me think Abbath has a shark mouth on his stomach.

I could be wrong but I always thought the crouched guy on the left was Abbath and the belly lad was Horgh. I bought that album in the Sound Cellar in 99 and that was a time when I absolutely pored over every letter and image of a cd booklet but maybe I'm mistaken after all these years?

Jail for these types needs to be a cold, spartan cell, 24/7. Life and no chance of release. You'd have the humanitarians out looking to make things easier for them of course. Playstations and bags of smuggled drugs etc.

I walked along the quays in Dublin yesterday. Cunts openly doing drugs on the street not far from Guinness brewery, one of our primary tourist attractions. Terrible look. I walked along it again this morning and the they were all out again in the same place getting free grub from some bullshit charity. Fill their bellies so they can they can make a show of the city centre again for the day. Fuck that enabling shit. It's crazy carry on.

Thought Primordial were class. That's the band I know and love. Brilliant set list. So refreshing to hear much of the classic era delivered with such intensity. AA is a great vocalist if only he would stick to that gravely style which was the hallmark of that era. Very little in the way of the modern clean wail last night. I would have preferred if they did Storm instead of TTND. I think those three albums would run better together and TTND was the beginning of the end for me.

Coscradh was decent. A band that never fully clicked with me. Think they started late and only got 20 minutes.

Bolzer was fine but are much diminished from the act that blew minds when they emerged first around 15 years ago.

I had a snooze up in the balcony area during Saor. Great band for that. I don't mind pagan/folk metal but it's extremely difficult to do right. They lack a bit of an edge. Too soft. Your man's first band Askival were better. Polish band Stworz are an example of a band who pull off the pagan/folk style convincingly.

Good turn out. Crowd seemed well in to it. The pints I was drinking were 8.80 robbing cunts. Also the after party seemed a bit flat. Emptied out early I though.

Top night anyway and again hats off to Primordial for proving they are the top dogs in Irish metal.

Going by the positivity in this thread it looks like I might have to give Qrixkuor another go. I have the demo and Three Devils Dance ep and that was enough for me. I'd had enough of that style of DM so promptly forgot about the band but interesting to hear they have since evolved.

Foulest Semen was the high point for me. I didn't really get in to the following two albums at all. Must get them back on rotation seeing as I'm driving an antique with a cd tray and no working Bluetooth

Then I'll check out the newest gear. Was great excitement back in the day when Ruins first started playing live. Was some experience those early gigs.

It's a good one, astfgyl. Sure there's no real 'right' answer and no cut off point for ethnicity. I'd just go on gut feeling probably! It's a funny one but you see the liberal left get all in to this stuff these days. Like The Jews aren't really The Jews from Israel, they are European by DNA. SF/IRA heads are false cos they've a bit of Norman in them so stfu with their nationalism malarkey. Nobody in Ireland is ethnically Irish and we are all migrants in the context of Newgrange  ;D
Lads are tying themselves up in knots over this stuff

I'd say you'd want 4 or 5 generations of traditional oul white Catholic Irish on at least one side of your family to be considered ethnically Irish but sure I've only pulled that out of my arse and wtf do I know?

I have a Norman name on my mother's side and English on that side also not that far back. The other side is the usual peasant Irish. I'm definitely Irish ethnically. For example Chio Ogbene or Adam Idah aren't. That's obvious. But it doesn't stop them being Irish in a broader sense.

Anyway

I don't think I've heard a decent AA pod. Ages since I checked him out. The covid era videos with the lad from gama bomb were alright, but solo on a pod didn't work for me.

On topic, I cannot fucking believe COF are still a thing. The mind boggles.

Jaysis I thought Rome were fairly beige and neutral as neo folk bands go. I don't like the guys voice so I've not given them much attention to be fair. Hope you get to see the gig anyway without any disturbance from the totalitarian activist brethren.

Great fucking gig poster. Hope it does well. Would definitely go if I could.

Mütiilation - black millenium

I never got in to the LLN bands. Whatever I heard years back was too noisy and raw for my tastes at the time. This album from 2001 might not be considered part of that early French scene? In any case it's easily accessible and contains some absolute black metal gold. Particularly the last two songs. I only got it recently and I'm sickened I skipped on the band for years.17557277912896653317924039883970.jpg
