Yep accurate description alright. Where the comedy enters for me is their complete lack of self awareness especially evident on social media platforms, they've no idea when people are taking the piss and seem to genuinely believe they're on the path to becoming the next Metallica or something.

While this possibly doesn't meet the description of ridiculous or unintentionally hilarious, I had to give this absolute muck a mention as it doesn't really merit it's own thread. For whatever reason, spam or whatever, I seem to have signed up to a load of mailing lists and this appeared on my notifications this morning. Now don't get me wrong, I'm very partial to quite a bit of 90s industrial, such as NIN, Skinny Puppy, et al, but I've noticed a bit of a revival of this type of music of late, none of it particularly good. Please see 3teeth for further proof. Anyway, this crap popped up this morning. Possibly the worst type of 90s industrial-lite I've witnessed yet, while absolutely ripping off the Prodigys Firestarter in the most shameless manner possible.

Cheered me right up and meself and the two brothers gave most of the evening laughing at it. There is a supercut version doing the rounds as well with some of the highlights which is class
Someone sent me that earlier and I thought it was one of those overdubbed pisstake videos, didn't cop it was actually the real thing! 😂
He's got serious drug problems apparently, so probably didn't realise how unable he was to hit the notes. I watched another track from that session and he appeared to be managing it alright, so who knows?
Having seen them live years ago, I can confirm that they're generally shite but not that bad, jaysus.
I mean, is it, or rather isn't it possible that he was attempting a parody of some sort of the original? Like, a kinda pisstake? Isn't it.....? :-[
He's been accused of lip-synching for years, so it's probably not an anomaly. I did listen to another song from that session and he seemed to pull it off, but that's so straight-faced that I believe that he's just not able for that particular song.
That's a thought that would drive you to drugs: Kurt Cobain was a better singer than you.
You got that a bit backwards I think; a lot of folk have turned to drugs thinking it was the golden ticket to being able to perform like Kurt Cobain, the best singer Nirvana could ever have had.
An example of someone that was backed by a major label to cash in a fad but didn't actually deserve a recording contract in the first place.

Im finding most modern music kind of ridiculous, like a mix of the last 30 years, with a modern digital overly processed feel, kind of like all pop over the last decade. It seems just so disposable, not even sort of mildly challenging the way lady gaga was back in the olden times of 2012

What a durty kip. I was in the upstairs bog one night having a slash at the urinal and a couple of inches from my nose spotted an aul snot stuck to the wall with a a fookin pube stuck on it...
The few times I was in the bog in Fibbers the place was a swamp of urine and the cubicle was almost always a mess of shite.
21 years later I've found some metal compadres who also hated fibbers, bruxelles, sin e, gypsy rose.
those places were dives, but without the charm of dives
it was never ok in those days to be a metal fan but to dislike grubby clubs and pubs, or to like the idea of going to a festival but to like the idea of going to a festival near a 4 star hotel.

This is something I don't understand about Irish glam bands. Why go to all the trouble of getting dressed up and making a video if you're going to put zero effort into your song writing and production. This is the type of shite a cover band comes up with when they try to write a song.
They look too young to actually have any clear memory of the 80s, so it's kind of a mangled tribute. 10x better than those Lush lads tho

Never heard of the last two (they must be after my time), but Fibbers and Bruxelles have always been shitholes IMO.
Sin E is pretty decent imo.
Fibbers is only tolerable if you're already pissed when you get there, and weird shit always happens to me there too.

Sin é must be about 20 years in Dublin! It's just not a metal bar, not sure why it's being mentioned here.
It's had a fair few metal nights and shows on there, especially in recent years. I found a lot of people would tend to head there after a gig in the Voodoo
The Gypsy made Fibbers look sparkling clean though, and seemed to hire barstaff based on their willingness to stick their tits out than any sort of ability at pulling pints. It's not missed

after the crusty gen xers moved on, there were 2 waves of millennials doing our thing in their way in our old venues, and some new venues which were the same as the old venues. so taller better looking young people, but also sadder and more degraded in a way. Smartphones lighting up every damn corner. I dropped in once a year from 07-17, to the various bars, and you've see Alan Averill in a few places, and a few people in their 30s and 40s, but the spark disappeared in about 2006 in my view.
I dunno, if I had my time again I'd not visit any of those places, and try my luck in the 'normal' venues. Australian themed venues were big at the time if I recall.
Back on track, here is a band I have a soft spot for at their absolute best

Jesus the dancing. Mortifying. I still occasionally listen to Soul of a New Machine and Demanufacture and sonically they hold up but visually the naffness is excruciating. And it only gets worse for the Nu metal years.

YES! This is the kind of stuff we need in this thread!
Sometimes I wonder how unintentional some of these actually are. Like Wes Scantlin for example. I think he might be intentionally shit for the views. At least this way folks are talking about him. This fella as well seems like he might be hoping that in the course of laughing at his terrible performance someone somewhere might notice his dancing talents
I recognised the name but had to look up ol' Wes there - I don't think that's an act, the lad seems a whole lot cracked in the head.
Flashback to that awkward moment way back when one of the lads gives you the Puddle of Mudd album, insists you listen to it because you're an Alice in Chains fan and "this is just as good", but you have to break hearts and reprimand them for listening to such shite.

There aren't enough bad things I could say about that one
I think it cool.

Holy sweet suffering Christ on the cross.
Ducky just induced a flashback in my own cortex there with regard to fucking Puddle Of Mud.
Is it possible, now I may have dreamed this up, I drank heavily for a number of years in my youth, but did I once go to a gig in the Ambassador where Puddle Of Mud were supporting cunting Korn?
I have some memory of POM getting booed off the stage and Korn being as septic as Korn tended to be, complete with Davies in kilt with bagpipes.
Did this actually happen? If so, to keep on thread, it must have been the most ridiculus and unintentionally hilarious gigs ever.
Perhaps the whole thing is just a figment of my booze addled brain.
That was in the RDS, a mate got tickets for free through his job. POM were so shite that I initially thought it was the opening act doing a bad impression.
Thanks for clearing that up.
Ive no idea how I wound up at that. Cant remember the RDS bit but Ill take your word for it.
Again, terrible, terrible shite alltogether.
First proper gig I ever went to, being a 14/15 year old Korn fan I was happy out. Puddle of Mudd however were absolutely fucking shocking, and played a cover of War Pigs that has stuck with me to this day. Woeful but fair funny
That rings a bell.
Was there bottles thrown at POM on stage or did i dream that?
Possibly. The general feeling seemed to be disappointment from what I remember. I'm not a fan so don't know whether they were good by their standards, I just thought they were generally shite.

I definitely don't think that video warrants being in this thread.
The video ain't the most exciting and I can forgive the young lad clapping as he looks about twelve. The music is decent for what it is, if not exactly the kind of stuff I'm into these days. It reminds me of the late 90s and early 00s with the likes of DEP and Converge mixed with the post-rock/ hardcore stuff that was big at that time.

I think they're great at what they do but it's just not my thing. Certainly not something that would have me cringing or folded over laughing. They do come across as pretentious in how they present themselves but doesn't every band to people outside of their scene?
Not my thing either but they're giving it a go so good on them. Bear in mind that they're only gasúns, I think they're all mid-teens?
Is the lad clapping his hands not meant to be absurd, like the guy doing Saturday Night Fever after??
Teens created some of the best death/thrash of the 80s and black metal of the 90s. Eg Enslaved 'Vikingligr Veldi' a masterpiece in any man's language composed by a boy of about 14/15, similarly Emporer 'wrath of the tyrant' by a 16 year old Ihsahn. Dissection, Thunderbolt (Pol) etc etc there's hundreds of them.
That God Awful video I watched was down right embarrassing, redeemed somewhat by what I presume is unintentional humour. As Mclove suggests the music itself is reminiscent of 20 years ago metallic hardcore. Jaysus like.
But the pretentious video is gas and that's why I put them in this thread. And seeing as it's not in the slightest bit metal sounding I don't know why yer all falling over yourselves with the 'good but not my thing' craic.

You're not gonna like this, but, people dance and even enjoy themselves at their gigs.
I've done sound for them a ton of times and they're among the least pretentious group of musicians I've ever met/worked with. They throw it out how they want and don't give a fuck. Very refreshing attitude tbh. Even if this isn't my favourite thing they've done, personally (though it fucking SLAMS in a live setting), it's definitely not on the level of stuff this thread was intended for.
God Alone are easily one of the best live bands in Ireland. I know them, and as Yung said they are the least pretentious people you could ever meet. The amount of musical talent in that band is astonishing.
It's a good tune well executed. I listened there without watching the video. It's good stuff and I'll put my tuppence in and say that most bands shouldn't bother with videos because most of the time they look like gormless gobshites and the image/message they are trying to portray is usually lost anyhow.
Good work for young lads. Well done....
Been along to a few of God Alone's gigs. Definitely best caught live (live gigs, member them? Curse this plague) - though the tunes they've put out in studio are punching well above their weight. Sound lads too.

The crowd reaction is what gets me, no doubt fuelled by rampant alcoholism, high levels of unemployment and possibly cheap heroin. There's toddlers on YouTube these days who can shred with a greater level of proficiency, simpler times I guess.

Jesus that's awful muck. Brush should stick to what he does best- shedding a tear for Philo!

Those are classics.

So introducing Todmobile , fairly popular band over here in the 90´ the singer had a great voice!
But its not that this video has aged poorly in parts , thats forgiveable. Its the stealer of the spotlight, The Bell Ringer, that does it for me. The bell ringing climax rings at around 2:58
Its a majestic song so maybe it doesnt belong here, if it wasn´t for that Bell Ringer.

I liked the first song, she had a good voice. Great fringe 😃
That's Andrea Gylfadóttir, she had a fairly unique look. She went for dental implants years later, so I can only imagine it altered her singing style, just a tad.
Some interesting videos from simpler aul times!
Hopefully it didn't ruin her voice.

Saw a recent video of people doing push ups in the crowd during a frozen soul show earlier this year. Plenty of those Hardcore dancers in Dublin so I am sure they will show up for the Dying Fetus / Frozen Soul show in February.
All of those bands fuckin suck with the exception of early DF so I'm not at all surprised that their audience is full of total mongos.

Mike Browning has discovered PS2 era graphics and he's not afraid to use them!
The graphics are the least of the problems when those vocals are a thing. Fucking hell (shame, as the music is good).
Just discovered something here by chance..
So I was playing the welcome to the moshpit yoke there and got bored after 2 seconds so went down to the next video with the ps2 graphics and played that and now they're both running in tandem here like Tribes of Neurot and there's an odd cool bit happening out of the chaos. Kinda reminiscent of SYL Alien.
Edit: so playing one video doesn't stop the other is what I mean

The first single was okay, but the vocals are desperate on that one.
Does Browning still have his time machine from the first Nocturnus album, could be handy if he wants another stab in the vocal booth?😁
The Key is fantastic, Thresholds is OK but the subsequent stuff has all sounded shit to me. Too much emphasis on the keyboards, no riffs worth bothering with.
They won't touch The Key. Some great bits on Thresholds. Haven't listened to the tune posted but thought the first one released was savage.

Mike wasn't involved in anything after Thresholds the band was basically taken from him which was how After Death and Nocturnus AD ended up coming about. He didn't even really have that much involvement in Thresholds because at the time Earache were trying to dictate to him how they did / didn't want the band to be.
Paradox the first Nocturnus AD album is great it goes right back to the key lyrically and musically. The AD split with Unaussprechlichen Kulten is some of the best stuff Mike has ever released. Vocals sound odd on that second song but the first preview track sounded great. Will be getting the new album as I can't imagine it being bad.
It was the Browning material I meant, I should have phrased it better. Wasn't a fan of any of it anyway.
Listened through the Nocturnus AD album a couple of times now. The vocals aren't stellar but the music is great.
I bought Nocturnus the key back in the day. Always found it an amusing listen never rated it as a classic.
I have a specific memory of listening to it on a walkman, on a bus to a school football match in Athenry. Didn't know what to make of it, the keyboards threw me off at first but I got into it fairly quickly. The same lad who had that had the first Darkthrone album, I remember thinking it sounded 'industrial' at the time.

I did not need that level of cringe at this time of day.
I'd imagine their gigs are full of steampunk enthusiasts.
What a bunch of fucking fannies. Still, they are no worse than the likes of Nightwish are they? Aside from the vocalist having one of the most punchable faces this side of Piers Morgan.
They are also unlikely to make it into the 'Riffs' thread on that kind of showing. You'd find more balls and imagination in a pan-pipes melodies album.
Turned off after a couple of minutes, but far from the worst thing I've ever heard. Just bizarre that in the video it doesn't at all at all at all look like the shape-pulling vocalist is singing anything like the voice we're hearing.

I saw Masonna live in Japan last year. His set was i think around thirty seconds long. I had already had enough at that point. He just ran on stage, jumped into his gear, fell around the place with strobe lights flashing and then stumbled off stage again. Cutting edge stuff I'm sure
Quote from: ochoill on April 19, 2025, 10:21:49 AMIt was good yeah, I'd go back and see him again if he was coming through here.
If anyone remembers the Endless Blockade, he was the original drummer

New Clawfinger track. Anti-Trump song. Radical.
A bad taste in my mouth, a sore sight for my eyes
A foul stench in the air, a nasty vibe in the house
A bad excuse for a man, a dark time for the earth
A big disgrace for the race, a life lost at birth
Ruthless and scheming, pretentious and vain
Narcissistic and greedy, simple and plain
Selfish and sexist, shallow and lame
You're scum!
You're scum!
You're just a pawn in the game, a brainless marionette
A soul lost out at sea, another useless bet
An easy target to hit, you've got nobody to blame
You're just a piece of shit, you put the shame in your name
Ruthless and scheming, pretentious and vain
Narcissistic and greedy, simple and plain
Selfish and sexist, shallow and lame
You're scum!
You're scum!
You're scum!
You're scum!
You're scum!
Another pussy to grab, yes that's what you said
A small cock in your pants, no brain in your head
You're so full of yourself, you're a fucking disgrace
You don't deserve to be here, I want to spit in your face
Ruthless and scheming, pretentious and vain
Narcissistic and greedy, simple and plain
Selfish and sexist, shallow and lame
You're scum!
You're scum!
You're scum!
You're scum!
You're scum!
Nobody loves the bible more than I do, nobody knows... Shift!
Have they ever had a song where the lyrics weren't, like, totes morto?
It's still better than these....
Invisible Kid
Never see what he did
Got stuck where he hid
Falling through the grid
Or Big Chief Chuck Billy with this cracker
Some people live to lie
Some people don't
Some people are born to die
Some people won't
It's like a thrash metal equivalent to Imagine by John Lennon

I dunno man, "I wanted you to touch me..BUT THEN YOU CRUSHED MY BAAAAWLS" is poetry in my book.
Dunno why but the "nasty vibe in the house" line in that one cracked me up.
I can picture the orange lad sitting in the Oval Office with a tear running down his face. "Damn you, Clawfinger"
"You're the real Tigger."
I can actually hear the vocal delivery without even hearing it

Musically not too bad but what THE FUCK are those vocals.
I'm totally into that after 2 listens. Digging those vocals and catchy tune. The album art has me rolling in the aisle. Shocking stuff.

Yosuke taking the eternal part literally.
Apart from the mongs buying every edition, I wouldn't have thought there was enough new Blasphemy listeners each time this is pressed but Yosuke seems to have no problem flogging these so what do I know 🤷

Still listened to the whole thing, lol
Same guy that's behind Quest Master, that dungeon synth project.
I really didn't expect this to be a live band but I've seen clips and there's no vocals effects I can hear? It's strange, why release the recording like this and then perform normally? I guess it has people talking about it I suppose 🤔
He's in a band with the lad from Tarot too, Gloomy Reflections. I love the Steroid album. Got it from Dying Victims last week. Watched a gig on youtube, and ya, normal vocals sound good too, but I love the pitch shifted one, or whatever it is.

Feck, wrong thread.
Wrong thread.
I never took to Eternity. Probably my least favourite of theirs, even though most fans praise it.

Well that's my algorithm fucked now. 🤮
Time to put the Obituary live at the Marquee on repeat to fix it!
Haha, that one's come up before
Some serious shapes being thrown here. Not a coupla focal among these cunts, though, and their cultural appropriation. This kind of shite should be with O'Leary in the grave.

Ooh, tracksuit bottoms, studded gauntlets and black socks, ..all set for a night in front of the tv watching Celebrity, ahh

Sure as he says himself 'you know you've made it as a band once you've been bootlegged so bands should never complain about boots'

I've probably posted it myself, it came up on Facebook memories from 14 years ago. Good jaysus it's bad.
Shite video but the song is cool enough.
De Midlife-crisiis Dom Sathanas
Musically Azazel is great. One of the most underrated bands to come out of Finland.
Never knew Ministry produced an Antifa propaganda video until this abomination appeared on my feed. Uncle Al sports a daft balaclava and slogans like 'Antifa is the shit' flash on the screen while you die inside.
Funny you post that when my copy of The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste LP arrived today. I'll take the nihilism and pass on the politics

Al and the lads have always being anti fascist going back to the wax trax days , just less opiates nowadays.
The the recent run of records do have a fair bit of cringe on them.
Ah yeah, I know that. But I think with the early stuff the themes are more general and bleak rather than totally explicit like that.
I'm pretty sure I've moaned about them on here before but I don't know how people actually take that Smoulder band seriously with that singer, absolute shite. Comically bad live vocals and cringey as fuck meth tweaker stage presence too.

This is what happens when you overdo it on the drugs and you are also desperate to stay relevant because nobody gives a shit about your new material.
Any artist directly responding to any kind of zeitgeist plays a dangerous game. Your songs would want to be bulletproof to not either become immediately farcical, or to have any kind of relevance five minutes down the line. Particularly in the internet era where history continues to accelerate on a weekly basis.
Could this be any more generic?
