Just watched the documentary about The Velvet Underground from last year. Quality. Don't miss if you're into the band or into the origins of drone or into that whole Warhol New York scene.
Where did ya watch that lad? Wouldn't mind watching it now. I read  decent Lou Reed biography a few months back that went over the Velvet Underground. Interesting stuff

magnetdl.com

It's an Apple TV made thing, I don't know if you can get their stuff through one of the streaming services.

I watched it on bflix. Particularly loved the bit when Moe and the dancer are describing their utter disgust of hippies. They still seem passionate about it.

Watched Edgar Wright's Sparks documentary the last couple of nights. It's alright, very little about their private lives. Typical rise, fall, and rise again music biography, would obviously be more enjoyable if you were familiar with their work, which I'm not. They seem like nice enough chaps.

Watched Killing Joke - The Death and Resurrection Show last night and loved it. Dunno if it was on here that it was discussed. Leans heavily on magick and astrology etc but that just made it more enjoyable, I thought. Not enough madness anymore.

Colour me intrigued. I'll check it out.

I hated that. I'd thought Coleman was the only lunatic in the band but they all came across as gobshites.

He certainly comes across as the most batshit alright. I found the whole thing very entertaining.

If anybody is a Swans fan, I'd highly recommend trying to track down Where Does A Body End from 2019. A proper deep dive into their whole career and Gira's character in general, with great live footage from their earlier days in particular. Brutally heavy live band at times.

That's a fantastic watch, I bought the blu ray for the extended version. He's much more relaxed than you'd expect, when not working on music obviously. I highly recommend the book that came out around that time, Sacrifice And Transcendance. A nice companion to it.

Watched it a few years ago. It is quite enjoyable with all the magic. I love that they recorded vocals in one of the Pyramids. How badass is that!

Watched episode 2 of Get Back earlier, vastly superior to the first. Lennon was some twat though.

Finished this the other night.

Ep. 1 - Torture. Avoid at all costs.
Ep. 2 - Fantastic. The songs and band are coming together. Overlong but interesting.
Ep. 3 - Good. Some songs have taken shape, based on the rooftop gig.

Takeaway: The band was finished long before the period covered.

George should have jumped ship long beforehand.

Lennon is (half of - Ono being the ever present, utterly pointless) an insufferable twat, whose contributions are subpar, particularly his lyrics.

McCartney is a tyrant, but rightfully so. The true talented force of the band.

Ringo was there.

I've only watched the first episode so far. Took me a while to get through, but I did enjoy it. I think it would have been better if they'd made it into more episodes, one or two days per ep, spread over 8 episodes an hour long, or whatever. I mean, it's essentially reality TV, but with a five decade delay, and happens to be about The Beatles rather than a bunch of nobodies shifting in a swimming pool. Looking forward to the second episode now anyway, after what you've said there.

I watched that Iron Maiden early years documentary on YouTube there the other day. Pretty decent now, Nicko is a mad lad altogether. Be great on the sesh ha ha
