Happened across the GN'R "Use Your Illusion" live from Tokyo videos on YouTube. I had them on VHS back in the day - I used to think that the performances were 100% class. Perhaps age/wisdom has dulled that slightly for me.

Still has its moments but I just noticed that the second tape opens with a quick behind-the-scenes intro into "You Could Be Mine", then an 8 minute Matt Sorum drum solo, a 6 minute Slash guitar solo, followed by Slash doing another 5 minute guitar solo of the theme from "The Godfather" (which I used to think was unreal).

Twenty minutes there that my current self would take to go to the jacks, the bar and the merch stand.

I'm sure I've posted this somewhere in the past but this is the ultimate metal performance by anyone as far as I'm concerned.

Like elite athletes, musicians also gain speed, power and endurance from performance-enhancing drugs.

this is gonna be of very little interest to most on here (hello, Quill brothers)  but I've been obsessed with this band called Burning for the last few months, who have very little recorded output but there's a few live sets of them playing (so far) unreleased material out there that are fucking incredible. This one is particularly ace. Industrial stuff that reminds me of a harsher Grotus or Crash Worship, the darkest Skinny Puppy stuff, maybe even a guitarless Skin Chamber - samples, two drummers, bass (the dude from Obsequaie/Majesties), vocals. Really eerie, paranoid stuff in places. Very much doing their own thing. I'd also say if you like The Body, "Cop" era Swans, Intensive Care, STRCLVR or stuff on The Flenser you'll dig them.

Not a whole lot to look at but the tunes are mesmerising. Currently the only way to hear these songs, apparently. The first one, "the mountain", is amazing.

Sounds like it'd be my kinda thing. Must check it out after work.

Good shit to these ears, really good percussive groove and hint of dub in there. I'm reminded of Headbutt at times.

Sounds promising. I would check out a studio recording. Interesting to hear hope the two drummers would work when recorded.

Lol good shout I'm getting straight in there as well

Not really one of the better ST songs, just the energy of the performance that keeps me coming back...

Well. Now. This has immediately become my favourite live video by some distance. Black Death Cult live from January this year featuring some..eh.."unorthodox" instrumentation. I'll say no more, just watch. Im actually in stitches.
