Haslet, corned beef and pork, onion & tomato. Ham and egg roll if you were feeling fancy. Raised on the stuff.

Suffice to say, I have never heard of it.

Must be something that started fading out in Ireland late 80s then alright, since if I'm not mistaken that's two of yiz a wee bit older than me who know it and one a wee bit younger who doesn't.

Product of the 90s here. Our impoverished childhood meat amalgams were ground into a fine paste and shaped into a smiley face. Not that eating it now is any more or less a grim prospect...

I remember packet and tripe came into the house once. My parents were clearly a very small step above animals. It's a miracle I turned out normal.

My better half cooks this on occasion for herself.  I  can't bring myself to touch it because of the texture and the knowledge but the smell isn't bad. She fuckin swears by it

(Nine Inch Nails - Tripe with Paquet)

Yeah I used to like it tbf, but havent seen it on a plate in decades

Nah John, the smell, the texture and, most importantly, the knowledge...Jayney Mac I couldn't deal with it at all. We need a vomit emoji.

Haha, I don't mind tripe. Regarding the knowledge, I was never quite so aware of it until I read Rabelais' Gargantua, whose birth in the story arrives prematurely as a result of the mother and everyone else at the same banquet falling violently ill due to some "poorly scraped out" tripe  :-X

Likely showing my age here, school sandwiches could be, fish paste, chicken paste or the dreaded veggie spread. My father in particular was very fond of fried spam 😞

Hambeast, boss man, please add the vomit emoji, stat.

My ma used to boil tripe in the gaff for my auntie because she was useless and couldn't (or wouldn't) do it for herself. The smell of it was absolutely revolting. Luckily my da eventually put the foot down and said it goes or he does. Thanks da

  Jesus Christ that sounds horrific. Spoon of boiled tripe please , I hear it's 7 pence a ton these days.
