I gave that a listen and was fairly ambivalent about it, but it's been stuck in my head since so job done, I suppose. I'll give him a proper listen.

I was full sure it was some 80s thing I'd missed out on until i googled it

I can relate to that, I gave years looking for what I was missing in metal, only to discover in the last couple of years that the sound I wanted was always there, just not in the places I was looking. Nowadays my habits consist of about 1/3 metal and 2/3 everything and anything else.

For fans of trad, folk, Lankum, etc. Some of these versions are up there with the best I've heard:

Been listening to this a good bit lately:

Electro Industrial, somewhere between a blurred line of old Ministry, Depeche Mode, Telefon Tel Aviv, Molchat Doma, that sort of thing - but with a very modern, cold production which absolutely suits the style and tone of it.

Shabaka Hutchings and Kamasi Washington are two of the baddest motherfuckers in modern jazz.

Travel the galaxy by Ed Rush is a good album if you like drum and bass.

Had A-Ha's "Scoundrel Days" on regularly over the last few weeks.  Cracking album, always think of it around this time of year too.

it's their best album
