Have you heard the version of Factory Girl she did with Radie Peat on the same programme? It'd raise the hairs on the back of your neck, some set of pipes between them.

Yes. Radie Peat seemed truly humbled to be singing with her, I thought. Amazing and beautiful song....
Lankum and Lisa have been on heavy rotation these past few months.

I've been familiar with the name Low for a few years, probably down to being a fan of 40 Watt Sun,  but only listened to them last night for the first time. It's great stuff. Minimal yet dramatic. I'm hooked.

I got into Low via Kowloon Walled City's cover of "July" (and it's a fantastic cover) and they are super.

I've never listened to KWC either,  despite again being familiar with the name.  Similar stuff to Low?

Nope, they're kinda sludgy/doomy.

That cover of July takes the music from the Low version note-for-note and gives it a really bass-heavy, doom makeover, but keeps the clean vocals (they have a lass doing guest vocals on it and she's great).

I've only really listened to their "Container Ships" album (which was a good listen and even at that, it was only cursory. I think Pentagrimes had a thread (or at least a discussion) about them on the main page.

I might actually dig into them myself over the weekend, a little familiarisation project.

Edit - I generally don't like "metallised" versions of songs, but I could listen to the KWC version of July all day.

KWC are top class and if you liked Container Ships, you'll love Grievances.  It's some sort of sludge alright but sits somewhere between Neurosis and Unsane, and that doesn't give it half the credit for how different to both it sounds.

Sturgill Simpson - Sound & Fury

He's a country artist who is apparently considered one of the modern 'good' country artists, I'm not familiar with him as I don't listen to country but he just released a synth rock album that's sounding pretty good to me. It's pretty cheesy, but in a good way. Like 80's ZZ Top or modern QOTSA.

Went to see him in Febuary in Vicar Street. I liked it live and this album was slightly more listenable after the gig but his country stuff is way better.

The most recent Woven Skull album has been doing the rounds on my turntable again for the past few days. Fucking delightful merging of noise/drone-covered driving rhythms and melodies.

What a way to open an album like

Don't know why I haven't listened to them that much in the past but I went on a Tera Melos binge while away this past weekend. Fuck me, what a band. I'd recommend "X'd Out" as the album to start with (the most recent one "Trash Generator" is unreal also)

This band have been worming their way into my ears so much lately.  Prog Punk..brilliant, brilliant stuff. Technical, jarring and yet so catchy.

Listening to a rake of French pop as I've an exam in September and I'm trying to immerse myself in it, best of the bunch is Clea Vincent, and 'non mais oui'. Class.

A French colleague gave me this CD many moons ago before she headed back home to France.

I've had the pleasure of seeing that track 3 times live. Gets better every time. Fantastic band.

Mary Timoney - "Ex Hex" (not to be confused with her band named Ex Hex). Noisy indie rock with a bit of bite and energy. She's low key one of the most underrated guitarists out there.
