Also, I've come to realise that distorted guitar is a sonic drug, one that I need to mainline on a regular basis. And that metal is not actually a genre of music at all. It's ALL music types with a layer of distortion added.

Love this description. I must have that addiction as well. A quick, industrial crunch of distortion gets me excited. He's been rightfully shitcanned, but Antichrist Superstar as a kid was my first exposure to getting hooked on that. Just that dirty, almost vacuum cleaner cheap sounding distortion  the guitars had. I think I'm into that moreso than any particular genres or subgenres.

It's the same with a lot of dance and techno. Primarily I essentially just fucking love that squelchy bass sound you'd get out of a 303 or SH-101.

Cheers man! We actually had to have that upload taken down, that was some black metal promo channel that somehow uploaded a really poor quality version of the EP, think it was some kind of bitrate conversion issue. Records are available to order at the moment from Invictus but the official release is tomorrow! I'll be making a separate post for it.

A blast from the past here. Ray sent me this video that was taken during our set supporting Mayhem in '07. It's funny, listening back to the WOTH stuff now it sounds so utterly fucking insane to me  It made sense at the time somehow! I'm enjoying hearing it with such distance behind it. It's some truly fucked up shit, even if I say so myself.
